Rolling Meadows, IL –The American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS) announced that Monica C. Wehby, M.D., is resigning from her position on the AANS Board of Directors to run for the U.S. Senate in the state of Oregon.
“The AANS has been extremely fortunate to have Dr. Wehby serve on our Board of Directors and her contributions will be greatly missed,” said AANS President, Dr. William T. Couldwell, M.D., Ph.D. “On behalf of our organization and her colleagues, I want to thank Dr. Wehby for all her hard work on the Board.”
Dr. Wehby announced her candidacy for the U.S. Senate today in Portland, Oregon. She is the director of pediatric neurosurgery at Randall Children’s Hospital in Portland, Oregon and formerly served as president of the Oregon Medical Association and the Medical Society of Metropolitan Portland.
“Stepping down from the AANS Board was a difficult decision, but in order to pursue my candidacy for the U.S. Senate it was necessary so I can fully devote myself to my campaign and the people of Oregon.”
“There is no question that Dr. Wehby is eminently qualified, as she proved so adeptly through her leadership on the AANS Board,” said Dr. Couldwell. He added,” It will be through people like her that we can achieve positive change in our nation’s healthcare system, and we wish her well in her quest to claim a seat in the U.S. Senate.”

So, what party is she trying to represent?
And this is interesting to SC residents why?

In 2004 Wehby was the chief petitioner of Ballot Measure 35, which would
have limited non-economic damages in medical lawsuits. Voters narrowly
defeated the measure, but Wehby has remained active in medical policy
circles and serves on the board of the American Medical Association.
She’s also against the ACA, so basically another Tea Party flavored Republican.
Doctor? Yes. Shill? Of course.
They have been saying that doctors would quit practicing medicine because of Obamacare……but for this?
oh noooo! BOOOKS! RUN! RUN! BOOKS!
She seems no different to me than the doctor saying “This weight loss pill really works!” on the infomercials that play at 3:00 in the morning.
Um, who’s the press contact? Someone from SC?
