U.S. Senate candidate Nancy Mace ventured into one of her primary opponents’ back yards this week – speaking to more than fifty members of the Spartanburg Tea Party.
Spartanburg, of course, is home to S.C. Sen. Lee Bright – a local favorite who has been courting these activists for years.
How’d she do?
According to one activist who attended the event Mace was “refreshing.” Meanwhile one Bright supporter acknowledged to FITS that Mace “did well.”
“There were a lot of heads nodding,” he said.
Mace – a first-time candidate – is vying with Bright and social conservative businessman Richard Cash for the role of “anti-Graham.” In fact she’s been labeled by the press as the most “electable” of the three announced challengers to Graham – who is looking increasingly vulnerable given his far left positions on numerous issues.
“Every single person is driven by a different issue, some cover the right to life, some are veterans, some are tea party, some are passionate about individual liberty, some believe like I do that the Second Amendment isn’t up for debate, but the one common denominator, the one common thread we all have is the Constitution,” Mace told the crowd. “I want to be the glue that brings all corners of the Republican Party together with the Constitution and some common sense.”
The GOP primary for the U.S. Senate seat held by Graham is scheduled for June 10, 2014. Assuming no candidate receives 50 percent of the vote, a runoff would be held two weeks later between the top two finishers.

“In fact she’s been labeled by the press as the most “electable” of the three announced challengers to Graham” Other than FITSNEWS, who is the “press” that has applied these labels?
She’s hands down the frontrunner for anyone actually paying
attention to this race. I’ve read a few articles where the media don’t
even mention other Graham opponents, but just her.
“frontrunner” as in ahead of the incumbent? Don’t think so.
The District of Columbia?
“Nancy Mace Goes Into Opponent’s Back Yard”
Was she talking to her ex-spouse using her phone as a flashlight?
+ 3 for the effortless, off handed Sanford dig
Mace has absolutely no political background. She’d be the (R) equivalent to Obama, a senator who knows absolutely nothing.
Do a few terms in Congress, Nancy. Then we’ll talk senate.
I want Mulvaney to run against Graham.
Obama was inexperienced and ran for president. It’s a disaster! Ted Cruz wants to run for president and he’s inexperienced. He’s being taken seriously.
Elizabeth Colbert Busch was inexperienced running for office, that’s a disaster. Nancy Mace is inexperienced running for office, she’s being taken seriously.
Why are inexperienced democrats bad, but inexperienced republicans ok?
I don’t think Cruz is taken seriously by anyone but himself.
Glad to see you again, BW!
Glad to see you, as well. A few of the old state folks migrated over here. Nice to see another.
We all know that having no “record” is what makes one “electable” to higher office in today’s environment.(and I’m not speaking to incumbency)
You know, it’s funny. Everyone says they hate career politicians. But then someone comes along who isn’t a career politician and they get reamed for not having the right kind of experience. It really just comes down to ideology.
No, it’s more than that.
I don’t want a career politician at all, EXCEPT for Senators and the President. They wield so much more power, and must be able to comprehend the ramifications of their actions. I believe you need some experience in political office to get that kind of awareness.
I have a feeling that for 99% of the population, though, you are right. And that’s depressing.
Well, unless you want rookie senators, they have to have been in politics prior to getting there. Either in state legislatures, governorships or the US house.
So it’s gonna be hard to avoid career politicians. Which is fine. The government is more complex today. As is the entire world.
I’m not sure about more complex, but it is faster and the info is a lot more freer flowing.
You gotta separate the wheat from the chaff and make a decision, a good one, quickly. Takes a special breed of person to do that, with a (nod to Taken) particular set of skils.
Hell, it’s not even about ideology, it’s about demagoguery & redistribution:
“Every election is a sort of advance auction sale of stolen goods.” – H. L. Mencken
My God! I think we agree on something! Mick is extremely sharp. But I’d be surprised if he does run. Lindsey has been canvassing the Carolina contingent since before his rollover on his Supremes vote.
50+ people, you say? Great turnout. That’ll definitely get her elected.
Yes………..and do you realize just how many people showed up at the Citadel Filed House a while back to hear John McCain and Lindsey Graham together..?
There is a reason they had over half the gym curtained off…!!
There is a reason that half the “people” there were actual Citadel STUDENTS and not concerned voters from the area…!?!
There is a REASON that this article and topic and MACE campaign news is NOT being covered in the rest of the media across our state.
Guest Poster, if you do NOT have the guts to use your real name then what does it say about your real MOTIVES..!!
When you get time, stop slurping your latte in downtown “RIchmond” and get back to your “office” and make a certain “confidential” phone call. You may want to make a call to Nancy Mace and ask her about “openings” on her office staff…..at the “Pentagon”….!!
Uh, you a Mace Man? Or just crazy. Can’t tell.
Sarcasm, dude. Sarcasm.
Gotcha draws in a wad today, do we?
You need some lithium, bro.
“Don’t medicate me bro!”
My sincere apologies to Ms. Mace and to the individual who came up with the headline for this story
I clicked on the site, saw the headline and immediately forward the story with a few remarks to several individuals. Within seconds I got responses ranging from “damn u drunk this early” to “go find your fucking glasses”
Now that I see the headline reads “into” not “in” makes all the difference
On the other hand if she had in fact taken a whiz in Lindsey’s back yard, she would have probably picked up a sizable chunk of the pervert voting bloc of the Republican Party which by all accounts is more than a mouthful
What is this Tea Party you speak of, everyone knows the Tea Party shot it’s wad two years ago and that it isn’t a viable movement any more…
It started out with good intentions till the nutjobs hijacked the whole operation…. with their misspelled picket signs.
Here we go again… for every misspelled “Tea Partier” sign you find I’ll find you 10 of any lib organization you can probably name. The idiot, unwashed, dope smoking, hippies of the “Occupy Whatever” movement (speaking of disappearing movements) probably took the record for misspelled and idiotic signs and they were supposedly the young liberal “intelligentsia”.
The “Tea Party” is a bogeyman developed by the Left, but also used by the “Right”, in an effort blame the dysfunction within the political system on a small minority of people that recognize something is wrong but for the most part have no idea how to “fix” it.
It’s a convenient scapegoat for the establishment pols on both sides of the aisle…hell, I listened to Matt Bevin deny any affiliation with the “Tea Party” this morning…lol
It’s a perfect vehicle by which the establishment can’t shift blame…the “Right” just does so much more subtly.
edit: “CAN shift blame”
I’m really tired of ignorant politicians who simply say “the Constitution” as though that settles something. What are your thoughts on Article 3? What constitutes a “reasonable search” in the digital era? What constraints does the 10th Amendment place on the feds? How expansive is the Commerce Clause? The 2nd Amendment doesn’t mandate legal bazookas for 10 year-olds, but what about assault rifles for adults? How do the Free Exercise Clause and the Establishment Clause interact in school prayer?
If you invoke “the Constitution,” you better fucking know something about it.
Somebody better get her a pocket sized copy of the Constitution so she can whip it out and use it like a prop like all of the other right wing idiots who don’t have a new idea.
I believe the Constitution is the closest thing Americans have to a national sacred text. It’s lasted longer than any other nation’s and enshrines our country’s best ideals. It’s to be treated with respect, not used as a prop. Her first (grammatically horrendous) fundraising appeal has this nugget: “As the first female graduate of the Citadel, I have a deep respect and devout appreciation for our Constitution.” That mawkish non sequitur encapsulates everything wrong with doltish right-wingers who cloak themselves with our founding document to mask their childish superficiality.
So do you guys think Lindsay Grahm is a better choice? When is the last time he’s served the people rather than himself or his party?
Perhaps a better question is: do you know someone better? Mace—a “small business owner” who did CLERICAL work for Fitsnews—is at best a mystery. At this point, she’s simply a sentient talking-points memo with baggage. Just because you don’t like Person X doesn’t mean Person Y is a better alternative. I thought conservatives learned this with Christine O’Donnell, et al.
Just because you don’t like Person X doesn’t mean Person Y is a better alternative.
In the case of Graham…anyone would almost HAVE to be a better alternative. It would be hard to find anyone who exceeds him in competence (at accomplishing the wrong things) as well as duplicitousness [spell-check says “no”. TBG says “Eff it!”] .
IE: With Obama or any other liberal Democrat…you at least know what you’ve got. Since Graham dishonestly presents himself as a conservative Republican, many in SC believe that he is. He has also been in Washington long enough to have accumulated power and contacts and he is intelligent enough to work the system, to our detriment.
TBG would rather be represented by a powerless kook or powerless imbecile than Miss Lindsey.
I’m against Constitution in all forms. People say it is a victimless crime, but the ladies trapped in a life of Constitution lead lives of….
Oh.
Never mind. I think that last line confused me.
That’s prostration, constitution is when you can’t go poop…
Except when taking your morning constitutional.
You shouldn’t go poop during your morning constitutional…
Oh, well that probably explains a few things about the neighbors.
“Lying prostrate! Set me up!”
The Supreme Court helped break the back of segregation by using the Commerce Clause in the Heart of Atlanta Motel case, saying that segregation hurt the free flow of goods and services in the course of interstate commerce. Constitutional law is incredibly hard to grasp and when rightwingers say that are united around it, I know they don’t know diddly squat about it. Do they know that Roe v. Wade allowing abortion was premised upon a constitutional right to privacy? For a group that demands privacy and hates government, the Far Right knows damn little about privacy and the rights enumerated and unenumerated in the Bill of Rights. How bout that Miss Mace? Can you spell these big words, honey? If your GOP needs to know about the Constitution, ya’ll need to ask Democrats and the ACLU.
Welllllll, the average Dem-on-the-street can’t spell “enumerated” so let’s not turn this into a larger thing. My only point is that if you’re going to run not as an experienced politician, an accomplished military officer, or at least a for-real businessperson/lawyer/farmer/chemist/whatever, don’t claim your biggest qualification is protecting the Constitution when you don’t know what the thing says. Mace has never said anything about it other than dashboard-saint jingoism.
I know about the Constitution, like the Obama Administration is full of crap when they say the House can’t pick and choose what to fund, but what the hell is “dashboard-saint jingoism?” Are we making a left-handed swipe at people who believe in the company of saints? ..or just people who believe in the basic goodness of America? After all, one man’s jingoist is another man’s patriot. You are, after all, a relativist..
Where’s the cleavage???
The “Cleavage” is on a military boat in the middle of the MED asking questions to some terrorists that Senator Lindsey Graham should be asking….!!
The “Cleavage” is using Google Earth to map out OIL pipelines being discussed by Putin, Exxon, Doha “Bankers”, and Kurdish “car dealers” through SYRIA…!!
The “Cleavage” is using the “Clinton Foundation” sponsors to make a map of donors to pin to the “Graham donkey”…!!@
Dear Nancy Mace,
When anyone who is sent this article takes time to read it, what links are provided here for them to find out MORE about what you discussed in Bright’s “backyard”…?
Lets check out your Facebook page……
https://www.facebook.com/nancymace.org
Hmm….you need to make some pertinent “updates” ….don’t you think..?
Dare we checkout Instagram or Tumblr…….
Nancy, do you know exactly how many “terrorists” are sitting on a ship in the MED right now…? Does Lindsey Graham know…?
Nancy, why does Wil Folks fail to ask that question to Lee Bright…??
Nancy, why are you NOT wearing BLACK….or Pink…?
If you need to, I can have an account set up for you at “Affordables” to solidify your “WIN”…!!
Nancy, its Oktober, and its time to drive a wooden stake into the heart of your opponents…!! “Count Graham-u-la” has smiled and sucked our blood for the LAST time. LETS go…….
what happened to husband # 1, married twice in 4 years
She really is running on an issue. She has a great chest. I mean just look at those
Awesome boobies.
Nice boobies and eyes, but meh face.
What a total joke. And you might want to ask Red State who they think is the most “electable” rather than a joke of a blog like FITs.
Dear Derek Maupin………..
If you would when you get a moment, turn around and pinch Mrs Lin Bennett. Look her in the eye and tell her without smiling that she needs to make a call and tell Mr Graham that SHE decides who gets his seat and not RED STATE..!!
Derek, you can make fun all you want too about this “blog” but it is being used by VERY concerned Un-Civil Servants to send a clear message about our homefront “hearts and minds”…!!
Derek, have you spoken with any information specialists at the Charleston Air Force Base lately….? ….or how about concerned Citadel Cadets.
Mr. Maupin, we highly wager that Mrs Folks feels really good going to “Jersey Mikes” and realizing that her husband has more GUTS than Lee Bright does..!!
Mr. Branton, Congrats on the incoherent rambling.
Kind of like the same ramblings found on John Stewart…??

Ya know Derek, just for “Mint Julep FUN”……..how many of YOUR friends consider me incoherent…?
I dare you to get 50 of your friends to post to this article…….
You do appreciate Wil FOlks….don’t you..?
JOn Stewart is an idiot. And no, I do not appreciate Will Folks. At all.
You are butthurt, which makes sense because you are Lindsey’s jock strap.
I have a sneaking suspicion that you know exactly what crotch smells like.
So you’re not denying it?
Every time I see her name in print, I think Nancy Grace…which is not at all good for the Mace campaign.
Even worse for TBG.
TBG always thinks,
“Mace… The reason Mike Tyson cries during sex.”
Dang she is built nice.
Yeah, that’s what we need in a senator – a pair of tits. Go home, Boz, you’re drunk.
“Most electable” of the three second-tier candidates vs. Sugarbritches Megabucks Red State Establishment Guy = Tallest midget in the circus. Sad, but true.
Mr. Folks,
Your poll interests me, would it be possible to do the poll again but with just Ms. Mace and Mr. Graham and only the people that voted in the first poll can vote in the second poll. The poll won’t let someone vote a second time so there obviously is a list of people that voted so I should think it possible to limit voters to a modified poll to those that have already voted the first time.
Also, do these polls allow or exclude “guest” votes. I would think to see “true” results of such polls only regular posters would be allowed to vote, say someone with 20 or 30 posts to their name. How does that work?
It’s done with either IP recognition or a cookie. In either case, if I wanted to (and, trust me, I DON’T) I could vote about umpty-leven times – which is less than an Obama voter, granted.
No, I don’ t know how to do that.
