More than 8.1 million people watched Clemson University’s 38-35 victory over Georgia on ABC last weekend – earning the game a 5.0 Nielsen rating. That’s the highest opening weekend rating since Notre Dame played Georgia Tech in 2006 (earning a 5.6 rating).
The Clemson-Georgia game easily outdistanced the ratings drawn by Alabama-Virginia Tech (3.1) and Rice-Texas A&M (2.9).
Last year Clemson played in four of the top eight highest-rated games involving teams from the Atlantic Coast Conference – including the Tigers come-from-behind win over LSU in the Chick-fil-A bowl.
That contest was watched by 8.6 million viewers and drew a 4.8 rating.
Given the weakness of its schedule, Clemson probably won’t draw big television ratings again until October 19 – when it welcomes No. 10 Florida State to Death Valley. That game is officially a sellout, by the way.

What was USC’s Thursday (nothing else on) rating… 0.4?
It was actually 1.4 with 3.6 million viewers and was tied for the highest rated show on television.
What was the score the last time USC beat down Clemson?
You are living in the past. The record speaks for itself if you must!!
The fact that you fail to see the irony in your statement is pathetic.
The fact that you so easily forget USC’s century of pathetic performance just shows your foolishness.
You are living in the past.

So he’s living in the past that he’s forgotten? lol…
Much like many of your comments, you’re turning into the next BigT.
No.
Doesn’t matter. What matters is this year…
How many top ten SEC teams in a row has Clemson beat? Doesn’t matter either, except for last week’s game.
Scoreboard.
One more than UCS has!!
always living in the past

Don’t get all Clemson on us. Just remember, sometime, somewhere, when you least expect it, maybe a friend will approach you…………
Due to the weakness of our schedule, so.car will probably not register in the ratings (on a national scale) until they face the taters. Lets not kid ourselves… The thought of having to watch us compete against Ole Miss, Vandy, UCF, and Kentucky is painfully boring. Honestly, their schedule might be better than ours. Maybe someone else on the schedule will become more attractive.
We don’t play Ole Miss this year. In any event Ole Miss is actually improving as is Vandy.
True. They are getting better. Tennessee could be much better too. I’m just stating that our schedule is full of teams we should be easily favored against. I’m not sure i would like playing Florida State. They’ve got enough to make me nervous.
It’s a great day to be a football fan in South Carolina. As for the Cocks, keep the windows closed when leaving Athens. If you’ve ever been there you know what I mean.
Weakness in schedule???? Ba ha ha!!! Almost ever Scar fan I know will admit to the weakness in their schedule! What does that tell you???
Since when is playing 3 top ten teams considered a weak schedule?
When the other 9 games are against chump schools.
I see a lot of irony in your statement, especially since YOU only play 3 ranked teams (Clemson, Florida, and Georgia) this year with a bunch of chumps. It must be SOOOO tough playing Missouri, Kentucky, and Vanderbilt.
All I care is that Clowney has been nominated by Sally’s Beauty Supply, the world’s largest supplier of “do” hair products, for The Promenade Gel Award. official statement from corporate office is they don’t care if he gasps for air like an anemic hamster on a tread wheel. He’s still THE MAN!
