Flanked by a trio of GOP governors, S.C. Gov. Nikki Haley (RINO-Lexington) kicked off her 2014 reelection bid outside of the Bi-Lo Center in downtown Greenville, S.C. this week.

FITS’ associate opinion editor Amy Lazenby was in attendance at the event, and snapped several pictures of Haley and her invited guests – Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, Texas Gov. Rick Perry and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker.

What did Lazenby think of the governor’s announcement?

“Same old GOP tripe about having kept her campaign promises on job creation despite clear evidence to the contrary in SC’s unemployment numbers,” she told us.

Indeed. Democrats have been pounding Haley on her economic record (or lack thereof) for weeks – aided by the Palmetto State’s less-than-stellar recent employment reports.

“She’s running on job creation, getting people off food stamps, and saying no to the federal government,” Lazenby added. “Numbers reveal she hasn’t done the first two, and South Carolina is still a ‘taker state,’ meaning we get more money back from the federal government than we pay in.”

Anyway, enjoy the pics …

Sad to say, but the kid in the orange shirt is probably the best candidate.

So dealing with our dismal poverty rates, our schools with antique buses, buildings, the lack of funding for our disabled and seriously I’ll residents, our dismal domestic abuse statistics, or the fact that those jobs she’s touting are still nicely below average salary rates…they just are non issues?

Which is why I will be voting for her opponent

Sheweenie will do no better. Please don’t misunderstand. I have no love for the Repuklicrats or the Demliturds. Fact is they are two sides of the same coin.

All the issues that you noted can only be corrected by the people living in them. It’s just not the gubmints job to do everything for everyone at all times. :)

So you are saying students need to buy their own buses, or parents with a child who has cerebral palsy has to find their own nursing, medical and physical therapy , or rape and domestic abuse victims find their own place to hide, and of course those jobs that pay at the national average are all over the place.

Yes to all, excluding the rape. The rapist should be tried and properly punished just like any other criminal.

Yeah.. too bad reality proves out differently. Most rapist or physical abusers are never arrested, never see a day in court, never spend an hour on jail. And we rank high in the nation of people who are victims of these criminals and who will never see justce. Too many.

Frank Pytel August 27, 2013 at 11:12 am

That’s why we need to get rid of the scum that is there now. We only need 4 criminal laws. We don’t need hate crimes. Really don’t even need rape. It’s an assault. It carries a lengthy sentence. The problem is the judges want to say ‘Well, you know, it’s TECHNICALLY, blah blah, etc. and anon’.

allegro63 August 27, 2013 at 11:51 am

Again..its getting them arrested and into court that is the problem. Research has shown how few ever have to worry about going to trial for their crimes
Which is why we need shelters, legal help, good counsil , strong advocacy for victims

.which sc needs much more of.

And we won’t even discuss how kids are expected to buy school buses or build a classroom in a poor rural county they can go to.

Frank Pytel August 27, 2013 at 12:05 pm

I disagree.

Frank Pytel August 27, 2013 at 12:09 pm

Another question; How many women are you willing to put into jail because they refuse access to children for the ex husbands/boyfriends simply because their pissed off?

allegro63 August 27, 2013 at 8:37 pm

people going to jail for failure to give visitation goes both ways. There are custodial fathers who do the same. You are more likely to get jailed for failure to pay child support, but even then the courts try all other options first.

And as for the men’s shelters. I don’t know about SC, but if a man is in need of refuge from his partner or spouse, then I would hope any rape crises center would be in assistance. That we rank second in the nation for women who’ve been victims of domestic abuse and 18th for rape victims, its obvious we gals have something to worry about.. Btw, there are only 15 rape crises centers in the entire state, most double as shelters for victims of domestic abuse.

Now back to kids buying their own school buses. What percentage of their lunch money will it take to buy a bus?

Frank Pytel August 28, 2013 at 3:10 am

Anything to avoid the question, hmm? Change the subject. Put it back on the man. Not this man sweety. Good Luck with that.

Frank Pytel August 27, 2013 at 10:58 am

And you didn’t say rape. You said Domestic Abuse.

Frank, what do you know about domestic abuse?

CNSYD August 27, 2013 at 9:50 am

“Indeed. Democrats have been pounding Haley” Really? This is a surprise? The other “surprise” is that Haley (or any other incumbent running for office) would say that they have done a good job? Waste of bandwidth.

We needed an additional 4 feet of water draft at our Savannah gypsum dock to more fully load our weekly vessels arriving there from Cornerbrook, Canada.

You know, so we can . . . make more money per voyage.

Value to us in reduced transportation costs: $4.8 million annually.

With her Savannah River Sellout, “Mission Accomplished.”

Thanks, Nikki !!!
