U.S. Rep. Jim Clyburn appeared on Sirius XM radio this week to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.’s “Dream Speech.”
Of course what should have been a time of sober reflection on King’s landmark address – a defining moment in the advancement of individual liberty in our shared American history – quickly turned into an attack on those attempting to preserve that liberty against an increasingly repressive federal government.
Specifically, Clyburn assailed “extreme right wing bloggers” – comparing them to Adolf Hitler’s Holocaust-perpetrating Nazis.
“The people of Germany believed Hitler’s foolishness that led to the Holocaust. They believed that stuff,” Clyburn said. “People will tend to believe what they hear through the media.”
Of course it wasn’t the left-leaning mainstream media Clyburn compared to the Nazis – and accused of creating “manufactured controversies.” According to him, “extreme right-wing bloggers” are the culprits.
“Most of these people are not media people; they are bloggers, and they are bloggers for the extreme right wing,” he said.
Hmmmmm … who on earth could he possibly be referring to?
We agree with Clyburn that there are Nazis spreading lies in America right now – in fact we call them out on a daily basis. And that’s the great thing about the marketplace of ideas. Clyburn gets to say what he thinks – we get to say what we think. You, the reader, get to decide who is right and who is wrong.
And who the Nazis are …
Frankly, our money is on people doing the all of the domestic spying, war-mongering, socialized medicining, money printing, debt exploding, gun grabbing, baby killing, Constitution shredding, drone striking, crony capitalizing, poverty pimping, special interest whoring in Washington D.C. these days.
But that’s just us …

Cly Cly is just pissed that no one knows that “Mignon” means cute in French and has nothing to do with a cut of meat, so he’s taking it out on the rest of the world.
Most people wouldn’t have punished their kid with such a name. At least he landed her a sweet federal job to make up for it.
Mignon It can also mean “dainty” in French but that doesn’t apply to Filet either. Best I can tell, her name should have been “Cul de Cheval”, course that would mean Ol’Enos’ name should have been “Ol’Ane” or “Ol’Souteneur Raciale”
This left-wing blogger doesn’t care for Clyburn either. The appointment of his daughter to the FCC has been a disaster. I am the only white guy living in an historic 150 year old African American neighborhood. This once rural area on the outskirts of Charleston is hanging in there despite massive new home construction right next to our community.
I contacted Mignon Clyburn twice about the unwillingness of either Comcast or Ma Bell to run their high-speed internet lines a few hundred feet down the road to service this long-existing African American community. She didn’t respond to either communication. So much for helping your own.
These two are only interested in personal gain.
The FCC has been plagued with a lot of people making decisions that benefit the large telecoms and then dropping from the FCC to take six-figure jobs at these same people they benefited. Stringent laws about this kind of stuff for not just upper heads of government agencies but politicians as well are definitely needed.
I’m not sure if you are contacting the right people about your issue, though. Is there a more local regulatory authority you can contact?

You’re right. His comment has nothing to do with the FCC. Nor does it have anything to do about how bad the poor have it. It is about the corrupt regulators who have doomed the US to third rate status when it comes to internet connectivity. We are about to be overwhelmed economically because of the subservience of our elected representatives to the creaky, self-serving status quo.

Nazi = National Socialist … an extreme left wing alternative to Communism.
The Nazi movement was a by-product of the Second Internationale (a far left gatherirng of socialists).
Many disgrunted Marxists joined the Nazi movement in the 1920s and 1930s … hardly right wing types.
The Nazis and Communists were just rival street gangs.

Argument that Hitler was Left-wing:
Adolf Hitler and his National Socialist or the Nazi party represented extreme left wing politics. Hitler has been deliberately mis-labelled as extreme right wing by many in the Socialist movement, desperate to create as much distance as possible between Hitler and his fundamentally Socialist principles. Hitler’s Nazism and Stalin’s Communism are not the polar opposites politically speaking, that many people mistakenly assume. They had far more in common, than not. However, Hitler suspected the Communists of being sympathetic to the Jews.
Hitler in 1919 attended his first socialist German Workers Party (GWP) meeting, the subject of talk being given the “How and by what means is Capitalism to be destroyed?”
He shortly joined the GWP thereafter, very quickly becoming their leader and renaming it the National Socialist German Workers Party or Nazi party.
In 1920 he co-wrote the party’s “eternal” and “unalterable” manifesto. This included such socialist or left wing ideology as the “common good must come before self interest”. Other typical left wing policies included: expansion of the health services, abolition of market based lending and income from interest, nationalisation of industry, expropriation of land by the state without compensation, guaranteed employment and universal education
In terms of world politics, his ideas were also left wing. His views and the views of Joseph Stalin are remarkably similar, including a tight control of the media, mass genocide, and extremely powerful government. Hitler disliked Communism & Marixism because he believed that there was “Jewish influence” on Communism, due to the fact that Karl Marx the author of the “Communist Manifesto” and the creator of Communism in general was Jewish. However, his policies were indeed similar to the 20th century Communist policies, which are extreme left winged regimes.
Hitler was not right wing, his socialist policies were designed to transcend class differences. His policies were anticapitalist, anticonservative and antiliberal, exemplified by his “Volksgemeinschaft” doctrine or “people’s community”. Hitler and the Nazis campaigned as Socialists. They also believed in Nationalism. To believe in both Socialism and Nationalism is not mutually exclusive. Certainly to believe in Nationalism does not automatically make you right wing. e.g. Stalin ruled as a Nationalist referring to his “Mother Russia”. The BNP are also often mistakenly labelled right wing when in fact they hold strong socialist views, such as re-nationalisation and should therefore be classified as extreme left wing.
A further example of how left wing Hitler and the Nazis were, can be found in Hitler’s book Mein Kampf, where he talks about his marketing strategy to target like minded Socialist and Communists, by using their own imagery and symbols to do so. An example is the Nazi use of the Socialist colour red in their Nazi swastika flag; a black swastika, inside a a white disk in a sea of red: “We chose red for our posters after particular & careful deliberation….so as to arouse their attention & tempt them to come to our meetings…so that in this way we got a chance of talking to the people”. “In red we see the social idea of the movement, in white the nationalistic, in the swastika the mission of the struggle for victory of the Aryan man.”
I think you are correct in your left-wing references to a point. The man who carried the socialist banner for the Nazis was Ernst Roehm, the leader of the Brownshirts. He was eliminated by Hitler and the SS because upper echelon Werhmacht officers and German industrialists insisted on this as a precondition for Hitler’s rise to power.
Roehm and his circle were rounded up and executed in an action called “Night of the Long Knives.” The Brownshirts were also disbanded. With Roehm out of the way, the socialistic side of Nazism was tossed aside and corporatism was embraced.
You don’t honestly think that folks like Prescott Bush and company were going to invest in a Germany which embraced socialism?
Prescott Bush as well as a bunch of US/Euro Jewish bankers funded the Communist Jews in Germany and Russia. Hitler was a National Socialist who hated the competition from the Communist Jews and responded. Both ideologies involve extreme concentration of all power in the hands of tyrants, the polar opposite of the intent of this country’s founders but very similar to the leftist ideology that ruled the French Revolution.
