Ex-DeMint Group Targets Graham

The Senate Conservatives Fund – which until recently was led by U.S. Sen. Jim DeMint – is running a radio ad targeting U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham for his refusal to support efforts to defund Barack Obama’s socialized medicine law.

“Republicans in Congress can stop Obamacare by refusing to fund it, but Senator Lindsey Graham says, that’s ‘a bridge too far,'” the narrator of the sixty-second spot says. “What’s really ‘a bridge too far’ is if Lindsey Graham votes to fund a government program like Obamacare that will do so much harm to South Carolina families.”

“Obamacare is a job killer, yet Lindsey Graham refuses to do what it takes to stop funding for this liberal train wreck,” the ad continues. “This could be our last chance to stop Obamacare, and it’s time for Lindsey Graham to start listening to us, not his friends in Washington.”

Here’s the spot …

Sadly, Graham isn’t the only “Republican” in Washington, D.C. backing down from a fight in the face of Obamacare’s implementation.

The entire leadership of the House Republican Caucus appears to be in the tank as well …

Ah, “Republicans.”

They’ll do anything to block Obamacare from taking effect … except blocking Obamacare from taking effect.

DeMint’s new group – the Heritage Foundation – is also pushing the effort to defund Obamacare, with DeMint recently embarking on a town hall tour of the country called the “Defund Obamacare Tour.”

“Everyday we’re finding out more about this Obamacare bill – how it’s unfair, it’s unworkable, unaffordable and increasingly unpopular,” Demint told NPR. “What we’re trying to get people to realize this is an urgent time if we’re going to stop it.”

In addition to Graham, similar ads are running against liberal Republican Senators Lamar Alexander (RINO-Tennessee) and Richard Burr (RINO-NC).

Let’s see, fix/delay/replace the provisions you think are broken, or throw one giant temper tantrum demanding it be scrapped entirely, since that worked so well in the last election. Hmm…

Have fun spinning your wheels in the mud.

Last night at a buffet restaurant we sat next to a 54-year-old man in a wheelchair. His wife had to go fetch food for him. We got to chatting and Obamacare came up, with him saying he looks forward to it since he’s disabled and many of his self-employed family members have “high risk health profiles” who can’t get health insurance.

I asked him what is his disability and why can’t his family members get health insurance. He pulled away from the table and showed me that his left leg was amputated above the knee. He WAS an independent truck driver and could not get health insurance covering diabetes.

“Diabetes runs in my family. All my folks have high diabetes risk. The insurance companies all know that and exclude any treatment for diabetes, including preventative care.”

That included him. When signs of severe diabetes set in — and before he lost his leg — he tried to get medical help but couldn’t afford it. “My insurance covered gangrene, which took my leg, but not diabetes, which caused my gangrene. So the insurance company paid for me to get my let cut off, but not one dime to help me. And now I’m on Medicare and unemployed.”

DeMint’s group doesn’t give a damn about the small details of little people. Just the medical and insurance industries.

A sad story, and one that goes right to the point. 218 morons in Congress are threatening to shut down the government, unless, we all agree to have more people experience what that truck driver went through. It’s not a choice of shut down the government to accomplish something good. It’s let’s shut down the government unless we agree to reduce availability of health coverage. Smart plan. Why are we even threatening to take away polio vaccines. I just don’t get it.

Pro Tip :

If diabetes “runs in your family”, avoid buffet restaurants.

There is healthy food on buffets. He could have been eating salads, vegetables, baked chicken.

How many times have you been to a buffet and witness people eating salads?

Gideon August 21, 2013 at 6:01 pm

The man had BAKED chicken and russet potatoes, and BOILED lima beans, spinach, cooked carrots, plus rice. For desert, he had a bowlful of fresh strawberries.

He tests his blood glucose three times a day with a blood-meter device that works on one drop of blood. His blood glucose go up and down — to 300 down to 50 — and he gets migranes when it’s high and he faints/cannot see when it’s low.

He is NOT overweight. Neither was his wife, who also had a square, healthy meal. SHE ate the broiled tilapia fish plus vegetables.

Her one sin was eating ONE giant strawberry dipped in chocolate.

I agree that buffet restaurants are VERY UNHEALTHY for most patrons, but not this couple.

He told me that he’d had “five Ritz crackers” for lunch.

I love lamp August 21, 2013 at 6:03 pm

Holy Cow, you gleaned a lot of information from him.

It’s almost like “this man” is you.

Gideon August 22, 2013 at 12:11 am

“This man” is an amputee in a wheelchair. There but for the grace of god goes me. No, “he” is not “me.”

Love Lamp, have you ever stooped so low as to spend an hour talking with a complete disabled stranger about his health problems? You know — a commoner?

Do you care about those less fortunate than yourself? Ever read the Beatitudes in the Bible? You know — the sermon on the mount?

No, Love Lamp, I’ve got all of my limbs still completely intact and working properly.

I never met this poor fellow or his wife before in my life, and last saw them, it was in the parking lot. I paused to watch.

His wife helping him slide into the passenger seat of a little white car and then rigged the wheel chair onto some sort of contraption on the back of the car.

I suppose you’d find all of this very amusing. Screw him and his disability, right?

My name is “I love lamp”.

The least you could do with all your caring for others is get their name right.

TontoBubbaGoldstein August 21, 2013 at 6:39 pm

Not at all.
TBG doesn’t know if you frequent buffets, but TBG loves him some Golden Corral, as well as Chinese buffets. In TBG’s opinion, patrons of buffets tend to be, on average, even more obese than their fellow South Carolinians…which is saying something. (TBG, himself, could stand to lose about 50 lbs.)
Although diabetes does not run in his family, TBG realizes he could be in the same shape as that gentleman in 5 years or so. TBG was also self employed, and while currently insured (around $600 a month with a $10,000 deductable), he has gone through periods of being uninsured and will likely do it again…..
What TBG understands, that many do not, is that “healthcare” or “health insurance” is not and CANNOT be a right. Although a free market system (which we don’t have now, btw.) certainly is not perfect, in the long run, it will create better, more efficient and more affordable healthcare than any other economic system. Same holds true for any other good or service.

“Although a free market system (which we don’t have now, btw.) certainly

The health care system to date has allowed, in South Carolina, one insurance company, Blue Cross & Blue Shield, to have a monopoly on plans bought by individuals / self-employed.

Does TBG consider the current health care system to be “more efficient and more affordable . . . than any other”?

Does TBG support obamacare?

Does TBG consider obamacare the “more efficient and more affordable” system?

If TBG opposes obamacare, does he think the current system will eventually become “more efficient and more affordable”?

If TBG opposes obamacare and the current system, what does TBG recommend in the alternative?
Is TBG a kemosabe or just another man kicking the large tin can down the road?

TontoBubbaGoldstein August 21, 2013 at 9:35 pm

No.

Hellz no!

Probably not.

Less government involvement.

Kemosabe.

Personally, I think we need as many people covered by Obamacare as possible.

Even the Dems are pikers in this regard. There’s the whole continent of Africa to consider.

How many people are uncovered there? Why are they not entitled to the same benefits as the uninsured here?

Are they not human? Do they not have needs?

If healthcare is a right, then why are we depriving them too?

LOL….ex-DeMint group targets Graham..?? LOL….ROFL….!!!

This is nothing more than a classic Rainbow-Push shakedown…!! Just run ads against an incumbent that is supposed to win by a country mile and then reap MORE donations from both sides of an issue for actually causing a media dust up to garner more attention..!!

LOL………just think how the Fitsnews site will get more good “feelings” from advertisers and “donors” for posting this article that the Editor of the Post and Courier used to get funds from…!!

All the while, the readers have no clue how the very same tactic that is being used should be used against the very subject of the article to leverage attention on a taxpayer scam in the form of AID to Egypt or Syria or Marina dock grants…!!!

This is classic……….just classic. …(and possible grounds for a class action lawsuit against the very donors that fund WHAT…?)

We know a Reston Virginia company that has workers who should be screaming at this article…..!! ROFL…..!!!

Dear Citadel Cadets,

When you ponder and reflect upon the information in this article, what tactic has Wil FOlks used to trigger certain views pertaining to the media fog relating to the Syrian nerve gas perspective..?

Cadets, if you would, take time to review this article…

http://www.fedtechmagazine.com/article/2013/07/how-nature-warfare-changing-information-age

“….. Let’s focus first on opportunity. Cyber provides a nonkinetic means to deny, degrade, disrupt or even destroy an adversary’s ability to fight and function. Bits instead of bombs can render an adversary’s command and control, critical infrastructure or logistics useless — without firing a shot…..”

What has Wil Folks failed to illustrate in this very article about disruptive informative awareness pertaining to group targeting in SC politics….as well as Syrian or Egyptian media funding realms..?

Moreover, how should the Mace campaign staff use these tactics in a debate against Graham to “ambush” any question asked by a biased moderator..? How would the counter push be done to inform the citizenry of any country caught in the middle of a “war”…..or GAME..?

ACA is not health insurance. It is European heath management. When you get too expensive for the management, they will either kill you or let you die. Then, someone will write a story about it, and everyone will “tsk tsk” over it, and then it will be forgotten, until the next time. Maybe they’ll all blame Bush. As the system approaches critical mass (in about 6 to 7 years), people will yell and point fingers. But by then, the US will be a bankrupt, 2nd tier nation. Hopefully, I will have amassed enough money to move to Argentina and join the libertarian revolution, as Heinlein predicted.

In the late 18th Century, Mitchell predicted the existence of black holes. Everyone laughed. You Liberals will laugh as the greatest nation in history dies a horrible, self-inflicted death. And you will not know why. But Mitchell would.

Reply
William August 24, 2013 at 6:27 pm

Why don’t you go to Argentina now? Save us all the pain of listening to your self righteous uninformed babble. I’ll place my bet on the US.
As far as European, Canadian, and Australian, and Argentinian health care is concerned, the ACA is nothing like that. But if it were, Europeans, Canadians, and Australians live longer than Americans, they are healthier than Americans, their infant mortality rate is lower than Americans; and in every poll conducted they are happier with their health care system than Americans are with their health care. It does not sound as though anyone is abandoning or killing anyone.
Of course we all know private insurers would never abandon anyone. They will pay no matter what it takes even if they are losing money.
But then again I thought that is what you wanted. For the system to abandon people so the churches would take over for the poor. They will step in right?

Polyphemos August 24, 2013 at 7:00 pm

You really do live in another dimension. None of what you assume is correct, although, it is perfect Progressive playbook rubbish. Your ignorance goes before you. This is not the first time you have peppered your arguments with untruths. I’ll get out of your way and let you continue.

So what did he say that was untrue? Maybe the stuff about you wanting the churches to take over for the poor. But I think he is correct on the stats on the Europeans out living Americans and generally being healthier than Americans.

Reply
Polyphemos August 26, 2013 at 10:53 pm

Well, everything was, at least, half true

Jan August 28, 2013 at 9:33 am

Your failure to answer would indicated there is more then half truth.

Polyphemos August 28, 2013 at 11:33 am

You asked what was untrue. I answered, about half. That is an answer. he said the ACA is not like several countries’ health care, which is untrue – only Australia has a 1st person single payer system – that makes his statement partially true, half-true, if you will. His perception of a situation is not refutation or even a statement of fact.

Then, he moves on to sarcasm, which is ridiculous, because, again, he is predicting an action, the logical progression of which is not in fact or even ancillary to the proposition I raised. I like sarcasm, but it must have a foundation of truth in order for it to be effective. He makes assumptions, instead.

The Churches DID take care of the poor, before the government butted in, and did a damn good job of it. John Stossel has an excellent video on that. There is no system, now, which does what you think it does for the poor. So we have a problem, between what you think is fact and what is fact.

Cecil August 22, 2013 at 1:58 am

Doesn’t the cowardly Senate Conservatives Fund have the balls to quote exactly what Graham said in their ad? He said, “As much as I want to get rid of Obamacare, I’m not going to deny Social Security payments to our seniors and
funding to our military. I think that’s a bridge too far.” That is too human for the gestapo Tea Party thugs, so all they want the stupid, uneducated voters in South Carolina to hear is a bridge too far. There is no way, Lee, Paul and Cruz can defund Obama care. Even if every Republican in the senate signed Lee’s letter, they just don’t have the votes. Lee can get only ten signatures on his letter. The majority of Republicans are avoiding it like the plague. Even the Mississippi senators removed their names from it. Graham is facing the reality of the situation.
