August 3, 2013 – Goose Creek, S.C. – Nancy Mace announced her candidacy for the U.S. Senate today in Goose Creek, South Carolina. Mace is a resident of Charleston and attended The Citadel, the Military College of South Carolina, where she was the school’s first female graduate from its Corps of Cadets in 1999. Mace earned a masters degree in mass communication from The University of Georgia. She currently owns and operates a public relations firm.

Mace said, “I grew up during the Reagan years. I believe our fortieth president understood what being an American was all about. He was proud, resolute, and he was an eternal optimist. Our friends knew he would be steadfast and our enemies respected him. President Reagan helped regain our national pride, but he also left us with a powerful warning. He said, ’Freedom is never more than a generation away from extinction.’ He said ‘we must fight for it, protect it, and defend it.’ I think those words ring true now more than ever.”

Nancy Mace spoke to the Berkeley County GOP breakfast this morning about why she decided to run for office.

“It’s simple, really. I believe this government is out of touch. Washington thinks it knows better than the people. The federal government has worked its way into nearly every corner of our lives, trying to solve every problem for us. And yet, we are still not better off for it.”

“Running for political office was not my focus growing up. However, in the last decade or so, our government has taken a significant turn for the worse. Americans are waking up to the fact that our freedoms are being threatened. There are powerful forces in Washington that consider individual liberty passé and the Constitution dead letter. I believe our state desperately needs new leadership—someone who truly understands the challenges before us and what’s at stake and is willing to fight for the principles that make America great.”

Mace also spoke about her family, “I was raised in a home where I learned about sacrifice and service. I understood from a very young age that you must be willing to work hard in order to succeed, that you must fight for what you believe in.”

Mace added, “We cannot change Washington unless we change who we send to Washington.”

And she picked up the endorsement yesterday of Ron Paul. That won’t help her in South Carolina.

If true, it got her TBG’s vote in the GOP primary.

Ron Paul has not officially endorsed Nancy Mace, those are just Twitter rumors. I wonder if he will, because that may give Graham something to attack her with.

An endorsement from the godfather would boost her campaign tremendously, though I will still vote for the evilest sob I can find.

Have a Great Day!! :) There won’t be many left with the Demlicans and Republicrats in charge. :)

Looks like she won’t be the only grad of El Cid running in this one:

http://columbia-sc.patch.com/groups/politics-and-elections/p/bill-connor-could-be-next-to-challenge-graham

“Connor and Mace both are graduates of The Citadel and have both
authored books. Connor was an active duty infantry officer for more than
a decade before becoming an attorney. He is a partner in the law practice of Horger and Connor in Orangeburg.

A source close to Connor, who is on military duty thisweekend, said that Mace’s decision to run will not affect Connor. Connor is expected to emphasize his military service while criticizing Graham’s commitment to the military and defense.

Connor’s experienceof having run a statewide race in 2010 could give him an advantage over Mace, who is making her first foray into electoral politics.

Connor has met with activists from FreedomWorks and Americans for Tax Reform, neither of whom discouraged his effort.”

Well, Reagan did blow out budgets.

He had no fiscal discipline what so ever…and when the Neocons complain that the Dems didn’t hold up their end of the grand bargain I simply remind them that Reagan never once veto’d a budget in protest.

The whole reason for the “prospering” under Reagan is that the country was living high off the indebting of future generations with it’s wild money printing.

Having the world reserve currency has allowed our gov’t to force the world to deal with our inflation via the oil trade(in dollars) and in other areas so our that the effects weren’t as immediately dramatic here.

The whole charade will come to end eventually, it’s just a matter of time.

Then generations will suffer in the aftermath….it’ll be Detroit nationally, and somewhat globally. The older generations will have screwed the younger generations.

Crowing about Reagan is the way to get Neocons on board because he’s generally perceived as an “ass kicker” for the most part and no one cares that he blew up the budgets.

The country just got done experience a pinch of fiscal discipline under Carter and lectures about turning down their heaters in the winter and were in no mood to deal with the blown out budgets under Nixon and those before him prior to the final disconnection to gold and our currency.

You must have missed US History. Do you know Cokie Roberts? Well her daddy was Speaker of the House Hale Boggs. He was a good Speaker, very popular, long serving, bi-partisan, pragmatic. Well, he “died” in a plane crash over Alaska in 1972. The plane was never found, his body never recovered. Enter Thomas Phillip O’Neil. Tip O’Neil was a bitter, corrupted establishment heavy breather from Boston. He blew out the budgets. He was behind the double digit inflation in 1978. He fashioned the Reagan years by insisting on tax hikes. In 1982, Reagan wanted to lower taxes, cut spending, while O’Neil actually wanted to raise taxes and tax RATES. Never mind double digit unemployment, inflation that began under tax and spend liberals led by Tip O’Neil.

“Reagan and the Republicans wanted to cut spending. O’Neill and the Democrats were insisting on raising taxes and especially raising tax rates. It had all the makings of the same kind of stalemate that exists in Washington today.

After weeks of wrangling, O’Neill and the Democrats would not budge on their insistence that raising taxes had to be part of the final deal. To make it more palatable for Reagan, O’Neill offered a three-to-one ratio of spending cuts to tax increases. On that basis — that the deal, on paper, was designed to result in a net shrinking of government — Reagan and enough Republicans signed on, over the strong objections of many anti-tax conservatives in the Republican ranks.

Thus was concluded the Tax Equity and Fiscal Responsibility Act (TEFRA), signed into law in September 1982. In hindsight, Reagan came to see the deal as one of the biggest domestic errors of his presidency. The tax increases went into effect immediately but as Reagan wrote in his memoirs, “later the Democrats reneged on their pledge and we never got those cuts,” so there was no shrinking in the size of government, and no taming of the deficit.

A few of the more important lessons learned:

The O’Neill-Reagan Lovefest: The deal helped perpetuate a myth that Speaker O’Neill and President Reagan had transcended the kind of rancorous personal animosity that seems to characterize today’s overly polarized atmosphere in Washington. After this bipartisan ’82 deal and a subsequent ’83 deal on Social Security reform, O’Neill had no hesitation to let forth this blast during the ’84 campaign: “The evil is in the White House at the present time. And that evil is a man who has no care or concern for the working class of America and the future generations of America, and who likes to ride a horse. He’s cold. He’s mean. He’s got ice water for blood.”

Reducing the Deficit: Longtime Reagan policy adviser Ed Meese, who supported the ’82 TEFRA deal at the time it was passed, wrote years later: “Judged by the results, TEFRA was not only a mistake, it was an object lesson in how not to reduce the deficit.”

Reagan and Rates: While Reagan agreed to raise taxes in the TEFRA deal, including an assortment of excise taxes, fees, and business taxes, he adamantly refused throughout his two terms in office — to raise individual income tax rates. In 1985, when the clamor to raise rates resurfaced in the fight over tax reform, Reagan famously invoked Clint Eastwood: “I have my veto pen drawn and ready for any tax increase that Congress might even think of sending up. And I have only one thing to say to the tax increasers: ‘Go ahead, make my day.’ ””

I’ll spare you the diatribe as I can concisely show a coupe of things to bury this notion of Reagan’s “fiscal conservatism”:

Here’s a rundown on some of the tax increase and budgets signed off by Reagan:

http://www.politifact.com/virginia/statements/2012/jun/25/gerry-connolly/rep-gerry-connolly-says-reagan-raised-taxes-during/

Now, all that being said, it doesn’t matter if taxes dropped a little in the CONTEXT that Reagan spend WAY more than was being taken in, which was my entire point, that you somehow missed:

Had he done so we would be complaining about Obutthead increasing the national debt to 2T or 3T and not near 18T. (Yes Sarah, Bushy too. Yea, the gif calc. doesn’t account for the “off budget” stuff…but I could go on forever with the different calculations and graphs that mean different things.

Every president since Nixon has grown the budget when accounting for “off budget”…but the graph is representitive of the trends which remain consistent when the same metrics are applied to the years/presidents.

Reagan was a big spender and approved plenty of budgets continuing the deficit spending.

End of story. PERIOD. Apologists like Thomas can pretend otherwise, but it doesn’t change the facts.

? August 4, 2013 at 1:37 pm

I need to clarify “grown the budget” to include “grown the deficit” as well Frank….my point being that even Clinton grew the deficit despite the gif you “doubt”…so in that regard you are correct when applying the “off budget” stuff in the metric.

Statisticians can generate all sorts of bullshit…but the metrics are the issue more then the graphs & numbers…so in that regard the gif is somewhat factual when understanding the metrics.

Until you have experienced a military academy, you do not qualify to speak on them. Not everyone can cut the mustard and I suspect you may be one of them.

I have the highest respect for the real military academies- West Point, Air Force Academy, and the Navel Academy. It is so disrespectful to them to mention the Citadel in the same sentence.

If there is a “Navel” Academy I’d sure like to know where it is! For us seafaring pirates it is the NAVAL Academy, if you please.

Lots of good folks come out of ROTC and state military academies. But they don’t cost the taxpayer in excess of 400,000.

EDIT: (cont) State Academies like Texas A&M, VMI, and the Citadel make true officers. Hell, the Maritime Academies produce much better seamen and admirals than the USCGA and Naval Academies.

I don’t know whether that picture accompanied her announcement or not, but I wish politicians would refrain from using family shots. Speak on the issues only, leave the kids out of it. The family photo is obligatory and they are a good looking family. It should have been cropped, though. They sort of look like American tourists who got lost in a foreign country and sent the photo to the US Embassy asking, “Hey, this is where we are! Can you find us and return us to our hotel?”

He has always been a two faces sack of shit. It just takes awhile for some people to see his true colors. But Graham himself – being delusional like he is – thinks he is doing a great job and is well worth his grossly overpaid salary.
The man has a serious sickness between his ears. However, he depends on his cronies as a narcissistic supply. The hate for the man is sweeping South Carolina by storm. And he and his swollen head friends are clueless to it.

Ah yes someone trying to run to the right of Graham who channels Reagan. The guy was moderate, he was just really good at articulating his message and point of view. He was a great president but he more embodies what Graham is all about in the sense that he was even-keeled and all about getting stuff done rather than get on a soap box every day and not passing good laws.

Didn’t know she was MWK (married with kids), so she’ll attract people who disapprove of Graham’s suspected homosexuality. Who knows what portion of the vote that is?

But Graham is a moderate conservative and has worked with Democrats, and for that I support him.

However, he’s been in DC long enough to make him like milk gone bad.

I’d be willing to consider Mace just to flush the toilet, so to speak.

Graham has become a career politician.

Maybe Mace will commit, as did Sanford, to limiting his terms in Washington.

Curious
why she “broke down the doors of the Citadel” and then didn’t take a
commission in one of the Armed Forces. Never have understood why anyone would
put up with all that BS and then not take a commission…

Dear Nancy Mace………

Well, as you read this article, what does if fail to tell the readers about what happened at the breakfast meeting. Just look at how this article is written. Next, take a cruise through the Post and Courier today (Mon) and see what coverage you have…? What about SKIRT Magazine or anything on Politico..?? Heck, there is more info on Huma..?

Nancy, you need to start kicking things up a notch. You are also NOT wearing black in this photo shoot..!! If women don’t fear you then do you think your going to scare any man in the voting booth into voting for you..?? Heck, it is highly wagered that Nancy GRACE would get more votes than you at this point. This is UN-satisfactory..! Do you want to win or not…?? Stop smiling and look sincere and dead serious…!! Nancy, what look do you have on your face when you tell your husband to DO something that he forgot..?? Well,…..what has Obama and Graham forgot to do for SC taxpayers…??

Nancy, just think for a moment…. how you are going to be treated by the media if you are actually sworn in as Senator..?? Stop trying to be so nice. What you need to do is go camp out in front of every TV station in our state with your own video camera and actually record how long it takes a reporter to recognize you and ASK you some questions..!! How could that be used against Lindsey Graham..?? If you want to continue to be an ANGEL then get in a church choir…..if on the other hand you want to be a Senator in DC then we highly suggest that you get your “Lady Vols Pat Summit” Mace-FACE…ON..!!

So, grab your husband by the hand this evening and look him in the eye and ask him point blank if he wants you to win or not..!! If he smiles and says “Sure”…..your gonna lose. If he looks at you and actually thinks for a moment and the smile on his face disappears while saying “damn straight”…….then you may have a chance…!!

Nancy…….you need to FIRE your campaign coordinator…today..!!

We wonder if you were at this meeting on Saturday to actually watch in person how Nancy conducted herself..!! We wonder how satisfied you are that Wil Folks does not link to any of the video of this event in this article…?? We wonder if you think that Nancy has more ability than Buddy Witherspoon to garner ears to listen to what is being said..??

Well, one thing is for sure Social Media Analyst, you sure know how to use this website to your advantage. Question is…..Does Lindsey realize you are going to be the reason he LOSES this election…or NOT..? If he fires YOU in the next week and it is reported in the Post and Courier and the State and in Skirt Magazine, then Lindsey may be smarter than is realized. The next question would be if YOU realize why you need to be fired …or NOT..!?

Analyze…..THAT…!
