RINO’s “Plan B”

S.C. Rep. Chip Limehouse (RINO-S.C.) was throttled in his bid to become a U.S. Congressman this spring. In fact he spent more – and got less – out of a political campaign than any Palmetto political candidate in recent memory. Limehouse is also facing a very credible primary challenge in his S.C. House district, which voted decisively against him in his congressional campaign.

So … what’s a rotund “Republican in Name Only” to do in order to stay relevant?

Limehouse’s first plan was to force out the head of the Charleston International Airport and take that $211,000-a-year taxpayer funded position for himself – however he came up one vote short.

What’s his latest scheme? According to our sources, Limehouse is calling board members of the College of Charleston (a.k.a. the “College of Knowledge”) urging them to hire him as the school’s president when the current occupant of that office, George Benson, steps down in 2014.

Among other board members, Limehouse has reached out to College of Charleston board chairman Greg Padgett – who is employed by Limehouse’s family. He’s also reached out to key College of Charleston staffers – including former S.C. Rep. Shirley Hinson, who lobbies for the school.

“Apparently he wants out of the House bad,” one Palmetto political consultant told us.

Good … Limehouse is a notoriously corrupt fiscal liberal and longtime lackey of left-leaning House Speaker Bobby Harrell (RINO-Charleston). So the sooner he gets out of the S.C. House, the better.

Yet while we want Limehouse gone, we don’t need to keep paying this self-serving millionaire a six-figure taxpayer salary. He doesn’t need it or deserve it, isn’t worth it – and taxpayers can’t afford it.
