Like an uncooperative “Wedding Crasher,” the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has been told to “lock it up.”
Specifically, the agency has been told not to delete any files or “wipe, re-image or otherwise destroy any hard drives” in its possession. According to The National Review, the order is “a sign that investigations into the scandal-plagued agency may be taking a broader sweep than initially anticipated.”
Earlier this month, the IRS admitted discriminating against limited government groups – a scandal that has since turned into a full-fledged debacle for the administration of U.S. President Barack Obama (and rightfully so).
Currently there are four ongoing investigations into the IRS (and what the Obama administration knew about its discriminatory tactics) – two originating in the GOP-controlled U.S. House, one originating in the U.S. Senate and another originating from within the IRS itself.
There’s also the chance a special prosecutor could eventually be appointed to investigate the case …
Where is all of this leading? Who knows … the initial revulsion to the IRS scandal has already begun to subside, a sign of how thoroughly desensitized the American public has become to the ubiquitous corruption in their government. That bodes poorly for any meaningful and lasting accountability in this case … which from our vantage point is as clear cut an abuse of power situation as you are ever going to see in government.

I’ll venture to say most of the “cleansing” has already been done. I’m sure it started on day one.

Fully agree that the cleansing of the hard drives is complete.
