Do you believe the children are our future?

Student Jeff Bliss at Duncanville (Texas) High School does … in fact he recently delivered a “children are our future” rant at his World History/ Asian Studies teacher, Julie Phung, after she told him to leave her class.

“If you would just get up and teach them instead of handing them a freaking packet, yo,” Bliss tells Phung. “There’s kids in here who don’t learn like that, they need to learn face-to-face.”

Phung’s response? “Bye,” and “get out the door,” she repeatedly tells Bliss.

Well, once she tells him “you’re wasting my time.”

Undeterred, Bliss stays in her grill …

“You got to take this job serious, this is the future of this nation… this is my country’s future and my education,” he says.

Take a look …

You know, after the advance billing this rant received we were expecting a bit little more. Of course the kid was speaking off the cuff … reacting in the moment. Also, we’d hate to see a rant like this delivered by a South Carolina student.

I’m on his side. Although I am 63 now, I look back and remember some of the mean-spirited and quite stupid individuals who sat in front of the class and pretended to be teachers.

My youngest daughter is 24 now and I distinctly remember her bringing home a flyer from her 4th grade teacher at Orange Grove Elementary here in Charleston. It was incomprehensible gobbeldy-gook…rife with errors in spelling, sentence construction, etc.
