“Let them deal with the consequences of their gluttony as opposed to making the rest of us pick up the tab.”
How would that work? Do we charge “obese” people for Medicare? Who decides who is obese? Do we add a charge for smokers? My sister used to work for the state and she had to pay $40 a month extra for her insurance because she smoked. Do we test carboxyhemogloban levels so smokers can’t lie about their disgusting habit?
What about those who can’t afford insurance? Do we let just the fat or smokers go without health care, or do we adopt the Republican response for all that can’t afford it: “let them die!”

I imagine they’d go by BMI but there’s a lot of kids being sent home “fat letters” for being past a certain weight for their height, even though they are not actually fat.

Make NO mistake Big Gulp Drinking, Twinkie eating, uninsured people do get healthcare, period. They get the most expensive healthcare a medical billing person can come up with, just check the hospital bills. Guess who pays for it. For all it’s ills, medicaid at least lowers the price. Those that claim a big gulp (x2) is their right is a dumbass. Kind of like smokers. It’s gonna kill me and I’m going to pay $5 a pack freedom.
