Tim Scott “100 Percent” Staying Out Of SC-1

Newly appointed U.S. Sen. Tim Scott will not weigh in on the South Carolina first congressional district runoff election between Mark Sanford and Curtis Bostic, sources close to the politician tell FITS.

Scott is “100 percent staying out” of the race, one of these sources told us.

“He’s not endorsing,” another confirmed.

That’s not surprising at all. Scott served alongside Bostic, a former Charleston County councilman, for several years prior to being elected to the S.C. House in 2008. Meanwhile then-Gov. Sanford nominated Scott as a candidate for State Treasurer in 2007 when the S.C. General Assembly was voting on a replacement for Thomas Ravenel, who resigned the office.

Given his history with both candidates, it’s not surprising Scott isn’t choosing between them in their runoff battle. It’s also not surprising given the fact both Sanford and Bostic have stratospherically high negative poll numbers in the district.

Rumors have abounded that Scott might jump into the race … and there’s no doubt his endorsement would have been a huge boost to whichever candidate received it. But Scott – as he did during the 2012 “First in the South” presidential primary – is making the smart choice and staying out of the race.

Sanford and Bostic face off on April 2 in the GOP runoff. The winner will face Democrat Elizabeth Colbert-Busch the following month.

Oh … and the winner of that race had better not get too comfortable. Primary elections for this same seat will be held next June – just thirteen months after this special election.

Scott is clearly in it for the money. And that can never be refuted. Hence, just another corrupt charismatic psychopath in sheep clothing.

It’s called the burden of proof, son. You need positive evidence to make claims like that.
