U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham surprised conservatives by voting against the nomination of uber-liberal judge Caitlin Halligan to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia.

In fact Graham took it a step further and actually voted to support the filibuster against Halligan – Barack Obama’s choice for the second-highest court in the land. By a vote of 51-41, Halligan’s nomination failed to receive the sixty votes it needed to overcome the GOP filibuster – meaning Obama must decide whether to pull her nomination or try and force another vote in the future.

A radical anti-Second Amendment judge from New York, Halligan is best known for trying to hold gun manufacturers’ liable for shooting violence – a doctrine of culpability which has been widely rebuked. Obviously that sort of far left perspective would be a disaster on the D.C. Court of Appeals – which hears the vast majority of cases involving the federal government and its various powers.

In fact it was this very court which rebuked Obama’s unconstitutional efforts to place a pair of far left appointees on the increasingly radical National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) without the advice and consent of the U.S. Senate.

Graham’s surprising vote comes hours after a pair of conservative activists in Washington, D.C. chided him for allegedly supporting Halligan … or at least refusing to pledge his support for the filibuster of her nomination.

In fact that’s been Graham’s modus operandi in the past – refusing to stand with his Republican colleagues on filibuster votes but then voting against the radical appointees once their nominations were put to a vote on the floor (a.k.a. when their nominations were already wrapped up).

Thankfully he didn’t try to have his cake and eat it, too, on this vote … for which we thank him.

What is more interesting is Rand Paul’s filibustering of Obama’s CIA pick.

I think Rand dropped that because his collegues broke ranks.
That said: God help us. Obama hvaing anything to do w/ the CIA is like Bill Clinton getting the key to a all girls elementary school….

Hell must have frozen over because I just lol’d at a Big T joke.

It isn’t even factual, but like many good jokes it’s an absurd exaggeration for effect.

That’s not the real Big T. Some guy has been using his name. The real Big T could not come that close to properly spelling “colleagues”, and could not mention Obama without it being THAT %%^^$#^&**& OBAMA.

Yeah, Big T is a sock puppet. And I hear you ?, you got to love a post calling President Clinton a child molester. Seriously, go get a job.

I’ll bet you’re the life of the party mph and I’m sure every party you attend you crash.

You seem awfully worried about other people having jobs. Sitting at home waiting for that next gov’t contract to come your way? Remember, PHd’s are expected to have a certain level of composition skills.

mph March 7, 2013 at 10:49 am

Nope, most of my clients are in the private sector, hombre. Besides, those contracts are competitively bid. In any event, that was the only comprehensible portion of your post. The parts about crashing a party and composition skills, I’ll leave be. In any event, I am gainfully employed. You, I suspect, are not. How else could you spend the entire day on this website driving up post counts? Oh, right, you’re a troll. Now get back to work cooking up the next conspiracy theory or scandal du jour.

? March 7, 2013 at 11:41 am

Sure champ, your SCDNR work qualifies as “private sector”. That’s about par for the course for you.

Of course you’ll leave the talk about composition alone, you claim to have done Phd level work on a subject including “succession” and can’t even use the right word(or spell it right, who knows which).

I feel sorry for any “clients” you’ve duped, even if it is some gov’t agency(which frankly, wouldn’t surprise me).

mph March 7, 2013 at 12:31 pm

I’m not sure SCDNR does contract work. The only gov’t contract I have is with the 81st.

In any event, I’m glad you’ve committed to memory misspellings (by the way, it’s PhD or Ph.D, not Phd or PHd. You also have a 4th graders grasp of punctuation. See above posts), my work and whatever else. No, not creepy at all.

And I’m doing a little book on Sumter that nobody will ever read. Kind of like this blog. My dissertation work – aka: Glorified Term Paper – was on something else.

Good luck with driving up that post count, chump.

You’re doing a pretty good job of driving up your post count too shit for brains. Tell ya what, why don’t you tell us about all that “private sector” work you are doing.

Don’t be afraid to be specific, like who it is that wants you to write diatribe’s on your version of “history” in which you get key facts and concepts wrong.

Has someone bought any work from you yet on your theory that Lincoln’s goal in conducting the civil war was, as you put it, for “legacy” purposes?

Holy shit you are a joke.

I don’t buy you do anything for the private sector, in fact- my guess is that “mph” stands for “Master of Public Health”, another bullshit degree that you can only get a job with via gov’t employment.

Feel free to show otherwise.

mph March 7, 2013 at 12:43 pm

Again, I can’t help myself. You can’t have a sentence about poor composition with a grammatical mistake in that very sentence. You needed a semicolon or period after “composition alone.” The period should also go inside the quotation marks and you need a question mark after “which.” Hey, I had a typo above, too. Nevertheless, given the amount of time you spend pecking away at that keyboard, you should be getting better at this.

? March 7, 2013 at 1:27 pm

Well, you’ll have to forgive me-though I’m not the one claiming I’m a PhD and writing on topics as such yet misspelling key words surrounding said topics.

So pardon me if I point out your hypocrisy.

Further, if you want to dialogue on creepy, let’s start off with your continued worry over my employment status as a start.

I think you’re projecting.

mph March 7, 2013 at 10:51 am

By the way, when making snarky comments about “composition skills,” it’s best not to have grammatical mistakes in your post. Just a thought.

stickler March 7, 2013 at 12:04 pm

Yes, since grammar is the difference between knowing your shit, and knowing you’re shit.

So is everyone OK with the Senate now requiring a super majority for any of a President’s constitutionally authorized picks? I think at the very least the old “Mr. Smith Goes to Washington” rules should apply, i.e., the Senator should actually stand up and hold the floor like good ol’ Strom did over civil rights.

Actually, Rand Paul is doing that today. For how long, I don’t know, but you’ve gotta give him props for it.

Very familiar pattern for Graham. He goes hard right as election time nears. He’ll be pro-freedom, Law and Order, low tax and for religious freedom (even for Christians)…until after Nov. 2014.
Kinda like Sanford talked like he was ‘father of the year’ before the election. tehn he got caught “Line-Crossing,” down below the Equator….and his kids were no good as political props anymore….

I think it was actually “lip kissing” down below the equator.
