Rehab Watch: Marcus Lattimore Is Killing It

Former University of South Carolina superstar Marcus Lattimore is in the midst of yet another improbable comeback – one which could end him taking snaps in the National Football League this season.

After coming back from a season-ending injury to his left knee in 2011, Lattimore suffered a much more serious, career-threatening knee injury to his right knee last October which involved damage to three ligaments. In fact after watching graphic replays of the gruesome damage he sustained, many wondered whether the Duncan, S.C. native would ever play football again.

They shouldn’t have … this kid is all heart, people.

After undergoing surgery last November, Lattimore is reportedly making short work of his rehabilitation regimin. In fact according to USA Today, the Gamecocks’ career scoring leader is “three months ahead of schedule” on his recovery – and has added more than twenty pounds of muscle to his frame.

“He’s twice as far along as we ever expected him to be. He’s so self motivated,” orthopedist James Andrews told the paper. “This weight he’s put on has been all muscle, which is absolutely impossible in most cases.”

Andrew should know. His last client was Minnesota Vikings’ running back Adrian Peterson, who came within nine yards of breaking the single season NFL rushing record in 2012 a year after tearing his ACL.

Is anybody surprised by this?

We’re not …

In 28 games at USC, Lattimore rushed for 2,677 yards and scored a school-record 41 touchdowns. He also inspired teammates and fans alike with his selflessness on and off the field.

Lattimore elected to forego his senior season at USC to enter the 2013 NFL draft – hoping a team might take a chance on him in the late rounds. If he continues to put forth this kind of effort, though, expect his stock to rise rapidly.

I’m very proud of Marcus. He’s a high-quality young man.

On the other hand: FITS has predicted (or was it hoped) for the WORST for Marcus when he got hurt. FITS even questioned Marcus’ return on his first injury. FITS told us it was MUCH worse than it looked and FITS talked about “career-ending.”
I’ll laugh in FITS face when Marcus proves him wrong…we all should…

Bullshit. He faked the whole thing so he could go pro early, and not have to his finish his degree in basket-weaving,or incur the wrath of Carolina’ fans.A true hustler.More power to him!

3rd rounder at best, the guy is a good role model and a good athlete, but he can’t take a solid hit. He’s been sidelined every year of his career back to high school.

I hope you are kidding. Can’t take a hit? I’ll agree that injuries plagued him at Carolina, but I saw him take poundings in games and keep going. The “hits” he couldn’t take were ones no one could take.

Wait until he faces defenses that are faster and bigger than they are in the SEC. Injury plagued players aren’t a friend to the front office. So Lattimore took more punishing hit than other running backs who weren’t sidelined every season of their college career?

Word on the street is that the Cowboys are extremely interested in Mr. Lattimore.

Good publicity coming out of the Gamecock camp. What did Clemsux do this week? Oh, yes, former player arrested on a handgun violation.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but Lattimore is no longer a Gamecock. He’s left the school and team.

I want to Hear FITS statement about what he has said when Marcus got hurt???
We don’t need to read FITS for updates on Marcus’ progress. Many other trusted souces already have that.
I want to know why FITS doomed Marcus…and is he standing by his dire predictions???

I truly wish Mr. Lattimore the best, USC used him up as they will do the next pro level athlete. If the low income med student who is the brightest in the state got the prayer support of Lattimore he could cure cancer. Check out the “Pray for Marcus” pages on social media, There should be a”USC is a College Program” Page. I know that may not sit well down heah.
