Let’s celebrate the University of South Carolina, people … which is receiving a whopping $944 million in the current budget (and that’s just for its Columbia, S.C. campus).
How does USC spend that money? Well, let’s start with the $125,000 raise it recently gave its president, Harris Pastides. Or the big bucks its law school doled out to a bunch of washed up GOP has-beens. More substantially there are the millions of dollars which flow annually to its “Innovista” research campus – which has already squandered tens of millions of dollars and failed to create the “thousands of high-paying jobs” it promised.
Oh, and let’s not forget the school’s propaganda machine … which keeps the local press from covering any of this nonsense (or the school’s deteriorating academic performance).
Ah yes, “University of South Carolina day …”

USC 2012 Homecoming Queen?
She looks frisky and could be a lot of fun – she has my vote.
it’s very strange that Will is a USC graduate and takes such pride in writing negative articles about them any chance he gets. And this one isn’t even really true. Yes, Pastides was given the $125k raise, but if you click on Will’s own article you will see that the raise is from the foundation and not the State- but this article paints the picture that the raise is coming from the State Budget.
You know, that bird looks mighty tasty!
Oops! I thought that bird’s name was TACO – never mind.
Let’s give a Illuminati shout out to those Cocks!
Go Trojans!
GA techs bitches
Gots to love them USC Trojans.
Yeah, It’s a pity ClemTech didn’t have the real USC on the schedule the last four years. (Wink, wink)
$944M? Where did you pull that number from? You realize the whole budget is not paid for by the state, right? I believe SC paid for 11% of the FY12 budget.
Don’t let facts hold you back FITS you frigging moron! As Daniel notes, $944 million is the total budget for the Columbia campus. Last that I heard, the state contributed 8% of that via appropriations. Of course, more comes in indirectly via lottery funded scholarships, but the university has to compete for those students and, last I heard, you supported competition.
USC’s motto is “Faithful index to the fortunes and ambitions of the state.”. Well, to use another quote, “The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.”
