S.C. Rep. Bakari Sellers – who at the ripe old age of 28 has already served three terms in the S.C. House of Representatives – will campaign for statewide office in 2014.

However his target will NOT be the S.C. Secretary of State’s office, as several Palmetto political twitterers were … well, tweeting.

That’s not surprising. Last time we checked the Secretary of State’s office (which should have been eliminated years ago) was a springboard to … complete and total irrelevancy.

Seriously … can anybody name the current S.C. Secretary of State? We can (it’s third-term incumbent Mark Hammond of Spartanburg, S.C.)  but remember it’s our job to cover South Carolina politics. Having said that, we haven’t covered Hammond since March of 2009 – when he was displaying his not-so-firm grasp of the English language.

In other words this office has done nothing of consequence in nearly four years.

So … which office will Sellers’ seek?

Guess we’ll have to wait and see, but the moderate young Democrat – who has impressed us with his substantive approach to politics and policy (and his willingness to break from liberal dogma) – will be a viable contender for whatever office he seeks.

UPDATE: And there you have it …

Bakari Sellers is in like Flynn for whatever he wants. You are about to witness him beat Sheheen or Smith in a primary and then Haley, which will be one more nail in the coffin of the tea party, and ensure that a white male will never be the SC Democratic nominee again.

Clyburn’s seat. Obvious

It would be absolutely awesome if he managed to dethrone Clyburn.

So, you think Clyburn’s seat is a “statewide office”?

It is no surprise that it is your opinion that the Secretary of State has done nothing of consequence for the past four years. Fitsnews does not make its money reporting on honorable politicians who are honest and who care about serving the citizens of this state. Your idea of political reporting is whether the Governor wears skirts versus pantsuits, catfights over the new girl at the Statehouse, how many Big Macs Chip Limehouse had for lunch and who is screwing who out of wedlock. Your website is a gossip column and that’s why people read it. Maybe you and the other dimwits who think the Secretary of State’s Office should be abolished should educate themselves on the office’s duties and Secretary Hammond’s commitment to public service.

And yet your vast list of accomplishments for Mr. Hammond was strangely left off your little message….

Chip’s not the kind of pig to shy away from a trough either way, so let’s say with the pickles.

Oh, wait….McBride might actually do a better job.

SC has a “secretary of state”? Why? To negotiate with the Egyptians?

How does he afford to even run as a House member? You pretty much have to be wealthy or have a job that will allow you to be away for six months a year.

Reply
Jennifer January 30, 2013 at 4:21 pm

He is an attorney!

Reply
BradWarthenSucks January 30, 2013 at 6:53 pm

So he’s an attorney… he’s been out of school for what 4-5 years? Most attorneys I know who are actual real lawyers and not ambulance chasers bust their ass for 7 years before they’re brought up for partner. So he makes enough as a lawyer in SC in six months to live off of? Or does he still live at home with his parents?

Sellers is from Bamberg County. Lots of people live in on next to nothing there. All you have to do is steal something and pawn it to get your next crack fix.

SCSOS returns 8 times the appropriates to the coffers. Check out their accountability report.

The group does a bang up job for their size. They handle business filings, investigate knock offs, and public charities.

If all agencies had their return, we’d be a lot better off.

Did not even read it, but let me guess somewhere in his diatribe: FITS ‘LIKES’ Sellers…for some reason or another…

Sellers “FITS” the pattern, or profile, of the kind of politician FITS “likes”….

SHOCKER that you would say this – given Pete Strom and the trial lawyers are throwing buckets of money your way.

And Bakari Sellers works for Strom Law. Imagine the influence if he’s elected Lt. Governor. Isn’t this the sort of thing you hate?

I fully expect this comment will be deleted, but Will, you should know that some people know the truth.

Trial lawyers pay Will Folks. Trial lawyers led by Pete Strom. Bakari Sellers works for Pete Strom.

Glowing story written on FITSNEWS about Bakari Sellers. Funny how that works.

Sanford was for sale…and so is FITS…

That’s why it’s laughable to see him try to offer commentary as if it’s genuine….

Any thing FITS tries to steer you toward is atatched to the payoff going into his back pocket…

That’s why FITS is all over the road so much…and he Hates Republicans…they don’t pay him…

He hasn’t passed a bar that he hasn’t stopped in yet. Especially if the chicks are hot, but he’s single, so why not?

Lawyers aren’t trustworthy as public officers. Party is irrelevant. Bar card is license to expertly misuse law and misrepresent fact.

Commentary is just that. Factual analysis is something different, and rare. Infotainment of gossipy opinions is much more entertaining to our flaccid and little used mental discipline of logically founded, instead of emotionally, reasoning.

Yeah, i know, even my family asks me when I’m gonna get my next download from the mothership….
