“Could his death have been a suicide?”

After watching the video, a better question is “Could his death have been anything but a suicide?” In the video, it’s clear he sat contemplating prior to intentionally driving directly into the water. A longer, unobscured video is floating around on the interwebs.

On a related issue, much is made about Mr. Skinner’s efforts to gain access to the pool. SC has required a pool lift for handicapped people since 2008. If you look at the overhead of the pool, you can see it in the lower right “lobe” of the pool – it’s much clearer on Google maps earth view (1145 Yorkshire Pkwy, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577) and shows as a sail shaped shadow on the NW corner of the pool. It may be that the lift wouldn’t work for him for some reason or, more likely, he just didn’t like what was provided.

Don’t misconstrue my tone – JP Miller is a douchebag and his alleged “affair” with the alleged slut Suzie Skinner may well be the largest contributing factor to drive Chris Skinners last actions but using “sinister” or “mysterious” to hype the events is just overlooking the obvious. He didn’t accidentally roll into the water, no one pushed him – he clearly drove straight in.

Unless someone could remotely control his chair, this was completely an act of suicide. And while it might be out of past character, everyone has a breaking point that can make them go off the rails and do drastic things – suicide of course being the most drastic, but sometimes its stuff like hard drinking, taking drugs, cheating back on the one cheating on you, beating someone up, burning their house or car, packing up and moving across the country or even the world to leave everything behind, abandoning their church assembly or even their entire religious beliefs- the list goes on. Suicide is just the most drastic, most final of the list. And I can see how already facing the challenges of being a paraplegic married man can be massively compounded by finding out your wife is sleeping with the pastor of your church, whom you probably regarded as a friend. The betrayal and shame can overwhelm.
