With all the crap these cops wear on their belts and vests, you’d think that a K9 officer would have something to remind him of his dog in the car.

I get that the deputy did wrong. It sounds like a tragic mistake with horrible consequences for K9 Orser.
That said, I am having a hard time understanding what business of SCCJA’s a demotion is. That is an internal personnel matter and should remain as such. A termination, I can understand their possible interest in as to whether or not criminal activity was involved, but not a demotion.
