Hmmmmm, I guess the “official number” just went up?!? Wonder where the naysayers are?
Don’t mistake this as gloating – I think Andy may be low.
As of this morning, the official number is still just 95. FITS is on an island with these claims and haven’t provided any proof. Until this article, they didn’t even say who was making the claim other than “sources” (if these were “conservative” estimates, why don’t these “sources” put their name to it or report it through other channels, I wonder?).
The “WCEN” that Francher now cites appear to be a new organization formed after Helene. As far as one can ascertain via social media, they appear to be legitimate and are helping in NC, but who is giving these numbers? Again, if they stand by them they should have a spokesperson behind them. They have not made this claim publicly or even reposted Fits’ reports.
Pics or it didn’t happen!
Fantastic job doing authentic reporting!
Would love to see or read legitimate sources. This “news” source is praying on people’s losses and just “guesstimating” numbers hoping they are correct which is abhorrent.
If this was true, it would be reported on the local news station in Buncombe county! I don’t know where this person is getting their information!
I live in Henderson county. Our neighbor is a police officer and he says the deaths are VASTLY underestimated right now. Neighbor knows someone at Mission Hospital, both morgues are full, two refrigerated trucks are full and two more are coming. Thank you Fitsnews for having the bravery to cover this!
FITS NEWS does it like no other. Keep up the excellent reporting.
