No one is immune to propaganda.
It’s easy to make fun of Prioleau. It’s probably the only entertaining thing on this site anymore if I’m being honest. The reality though is that Prioleau is (most likely) just your average old white dude with a propaganda-addled brain, desperately trying to read tea leaves to figure out the mysteries of the world, only no one has told him he’s just staring at pine needles.
I’m sorry to say that you will find no redeeming qualities in him. If he’s not smart, he’s a true believer and is already too far gone. If he is smart, then he knows a lot of what he’s saying is flat out wrong, but he’s saying it to grift the true believers because that is by far the most lucrative position to be in when it comes to conservative politics. To be frank, the dude doesn’t sound like he’s smart enough to be on the grifter path here. There’s an art to it, and he’s clearly at the kindergarten finger painting level in that regard.
Functionally though, it doesn’t matter which Prioleau (or Will, or anyone else for that matter) falls in because either way they are willing participants in the same project, they have an audience the average person does not, they are fueling all of this to continue marching forward. In any case, they are certainly not trying to be part of the solution in any regard.
I think you’ve found yourself outside of the “not smart” category here by not swallowing everything hook line and sinker, but my suggestion is to look around your party, both the politician side and the voter side, and determine what percentage of it is not true believers or grifters, and make a decision for yourself if your party can even be salvaged. You don’t have to guess my answer probably, but I’m not going to assume you will come to the same conclusion, I really want you to decide for yourself on it.
Please don’t take this to mean you should be a Democrat instead. I feel like most people can come to an understanding that both parties are pretty terrible, but one has clearly gone off the rails here. That doesn’t mean another bad party is a good fit. If you are clinging to your conservative convictions, that’s fine, but be part of a movement to overthrow Republicans as the representative party of conservatives.
I’d like to say we’ll get over this in the next ten or twenty years but I think so many folks are so far gone that it’s not going to be resolved in my lifetime, and I’m still pretty young myself. Things are always unpredictable though, so who knows?
Something is definitely wrong when the leading Republican presidential candidate wishes anyone who disagrees with him to “rot in hell” and is more complimentary of murderous dictators than the American president.

That was the GOP chair in Fl accused of sexual assault by the third in he and his wife’s “throuple”–she being one of the co-founders for “Moms for Liberty” astroturf org dedicated to ruining school districts from the inside out. Massive hypocrites, one and all. But hey, let the GOP double-down on the crazy and see where that gets you at the ballot box.
