Sources at a community pool in Greenville, South Carolina shared with us the harrowing tale of a near-drowning which reportedly took place under the pool’s cool, blue waters on Wednesday afternoon (July 12, 2023).
According to our sources, a nine-year-old girl was found submerged in six feet of water at the PMP Community Park – a “private, members-only club serving families and individuals on the Eastside of Greenville, S.C.”
The girl – who was reportedly participating in a summer daycare program – was spotted by a 10-year-old swimmer laying motionless under the water at the pool, which is located at 205 Pilgrims Point Road. A lifeguard was altered to the situation – and promptly pulled the child out of the water. As fate would have it, an emergency responder was on the scene and able to administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation “immediately.”
“When loaded onto the ambulance, they were able to get a pulse,” a source familiar with the near-drowning told me.

This news outlet has reached out to several parties familiar with the situation in the hopes of obtaining additional information on this narrowly averted tragedy. We have also reached out to the pool managers for comment.
So far, all we know is the child has been released from a local hospital. No additional details are available regarding her condition.
The moral of this story? Count the kids entrusted to your care, people. Constantly.
According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), there are an estimated 4,000 “fatal, unintentional drownings” in the United States each year – or 11 per day. The vast majority of those deaths are children.
“More children ages 1-4 die from drowning than any other cause of death,” the agency warned.
Stay tuned for updates on this story as they become available …
