Buster Murdaugh Settles Down In Bluffton

Surviving son of convicted killer purchases house with his girlfriend …

The surviving son of convicted killer Alex Murdaugh is hoping to start a new life in the South Carolina Lowcountry, purchasing a home last month in Bluffton, S.C. with his girlfriend – attorney Brooklynn White.

Buster Murdaugh, who testified on his father’s behalf during the latter’s double homicide trial in Walterboro, South Carolina earlier this year, purchased a $450,000 home with White in Bluffton, S.C. last month, according to property records. The couple borrowed $195,000 toward the purchase price of the residence.

The three-bedroom, three-bathroom, 1652-square-foot home is located in the Bluffton Park neighborhood – just to the northwest of the restaurants and shops of historic Old Town Bluffton.

Murdaugh and White previously resided at White’s condo on Hilton Head Island, where they famously dodged reporters and paparazzi. White filed police reports with the Beaufort County sheriff’s office in the aftermath of the Murdaugh verdict citing the “ongoing intrusion into her life by reporters.” According to her, these reporters’ “intrusive conduct had become “increasingly unsettling and frightening to her.”

Will Murdaugh and White be able to avoid such harassment at their new home?

While White is gainfully employed as an attorney at the Lowcountry law firm of Olivetti, McCray and Withrow, it is not clear what Murdaugh intends to do professionally. In January, he received an estimated $530,000 from court-appointed receivers following his dismissal from a high-profile wrongful death action targeting multiple defendants (including his infamous father). That case stemmed from a February 2019 boat crash involving Buster Murdaugh’s late brother, Paul Murdaugh.

Paul Murdaugh was murdered along with his mother, Maggie Murdaugh, on June 7, 2021 at the family’s hunting property in Colleton County, known locally as Moselle. On March 2, 2023, Alex Murdaugh was found guilty of their murders, and the following day he was sentenced to two consecutive life terms in prison by S.C. circuit court judge Clifton Newman.

Murdaugh, 27, has been a polarizing figure in his family’s rise to international notoriety. Some have expressed pity for him. Others believe him to be entitled – citing his law school fiasco with ethically challenged attorney Butch Bowers. Still others have accused him (falsely, it would appear) of being a murderer himself.

Shortly after his father’s trial, in fact, Buster Murdaugh made a rare public comment in connection with the still-unsolved murder of Stephen Smith – a Hampton County teenager who was killed on July 8, 2015.

“These baseless rumors of my involvement with Stephen and his death are false,” Murdaugh said in the statement, which was released exclusively to NBC’s Today show. “I unequivocally deny any involvement in his death.”

It would be my hope that Buster Murdaugh is moving on. AleX Murdaugh is already fading from history. If mentally healthy, Buster would remove himself from the Murdaugh family and not look back. After all, his father savagely executed his mother and brother. Buster has a chance at a normal life if he leaves his father to the silence of his cell for the rest of his life.

I am happy for Buster to be starting a new chapter. I pray that he is able to build a decent, peaceful life & that people will respect his privacy. He has lost so much.

Why would you publish his address and photos of his house and the deed? To what purpose? That is reckless and unjustified. Can’t you just leave the man alone?

No escaping the infamy of his father and the Murdaugh legacy at this point. He’ll be under the microscope for the rest of his life. While I sincerely hope the kid knew little to nothing of the wrongdoings of his family, my gut instinct leads me to believe he’s way too smart not to know something. That doesn’t necessarily mean he’s a bad person. On the positive side, his girlfriend believes in him and she appears to be a very smart individual albeit with a vested interest. He’s young so a few decades down the road may find him happy, successful and out of the news other than something that happened long ago.

Love covers a Multitude of Sins. May God’s love permeate the hearts of those who have sinned, which includes every human being on earth. Bring each one to repentance and God’s Mercy, Love and Forgiveness!

Once a Love one is deceased, they are in God’s hands. A person is never responsible for the crimes or sins of his relatives.
Pray for all who are effected. The Murdaugh family has suffered enough through all of this. Pray for everyone involved in any respect. You may pray for Repentance, Justice, Mercy, Love and Forgiveness. Being bitter is never a good thing for any one, Victim, Criminal nor Sinner!
May God’s will be done! Jesus is always the answer to Life. Choose Jesus!
Choose Life! Life is short and eternity is not! Each of us will answer for the life we have lived. You had best trust Jesus!
