Last week, this news outlet published a report detailing a crisis within South Carolina’s top social conservative organization – the abrupt resignation of veteran political operative Dave Wilson as president of Palmetto Family.
Based in Columbia, S.C. Palmetto Family’s stated objective is to “persuasively present biblical principles in the centers of influence on issues affecting the family through research, communication, and networking.” The group has played a key role in the ongoing debate at the S.C. State House over abortion – but it is active in numerous policy debates at the state level.
Palmetto Family also recently hosted its Vision ’24 forum in Charleston, S.C. – a gathering of social conservatives from all over the state which helped cement the organization’s status as a major player in the upcoming “First in the South” GOP presidential primary.
This week, we spoke with two of Wilson’s daughters – 24-year-old Carly Grosse and 20-year-old Alyssa Wilson.

Grosse and Wilson – and another one of their siblings who did not appear on camera – were instrumental in calling the attention of Palmetto Family’s board to an alleged affair involving Wilson and a national social conservative activist.
Not long after they did so, Wilson submitted his resignation to the board – although the sisters told me they believed the organization tried to cover up the scandal involving their father’s affair.
Grosse and Wilson spoke with me this week about what motivated their decision to step forward – and why they believe their story is one people need to hear.

I’m shocked…shocked I tell you, to hear that a GOP operative pushing “biblical principles” onto others wasn’t actually practicing them himself. At what point will it become apparent to the right-wingnuts that their so-called “leaders” don’t actually believe a word of the crap they’re spouting? Unless, of course, they’re being paid to say it.

My heart goes out to these two young women and their siblings. It took a LOT to share what has been happening. But, they followed what we are taught to do in Scripture. May God richly bless them. I noticed that there appears to not be any repentance from their father, which could have significant ramifications concerning his relationship with God.
