The fact that political discussions are carried by Drunkle and Ron Paul posts is a testament to how far this blog has fallen.

Obviously, we could spend hours going through the factual inaccuracies, but I’ll just skip it. His central thesis seems to be that the US government after Reagan (because you can’t say anything bad about him) ignored the rise of China and Russia and instead intentionally (he doesn’t say that outright because he’s ‘just asking questions’, but lets not play games) waged pointless and expensive wars in Iraq and Afghanistan to destroy the US and lead to a New World Order.
The absolute idiocy of this is almost incomprehensible.
First, Russia didn’t rise. Pre sanctions they had a GDP smaller than Italy where the top 10% controls more wealth than they do in the US. Their military is a crumbling shell that had to press gang hundreds of thousands of its prime labor force to
fight to a stalemate this winter. Without nukes they’d be counted as a single resource dependent central Asian nation with an interesting history. That’s why they resort to information operations across the west and W, Obama, and Trump all responded to them inadequately. Putin is a single minded thug with delusions of grandeur, not some chess-master.
Second, remember the ‘pivot to asia’? The now decade old realignment of our military towards Asia and Chinese provocations along the seven dash line? The constant drilling across the pacific? Boomers should all write this down on a post-it note and put it on their Viagra bottle or TV remote so they’ll actually see it, “Just because you didn’t hear people saying it doesn’t mean they didn’t.” The idea that China was ignored is just not true. And in a real ‘blind squirrel’ moment, he is absolutely right about the danger of outsourcing key industries like pharmaceuticals. It’s almost like certain sectors shouldn’t operate under free market conditions and government intervention is occasionally necessary to stop the pursuit of most profit in matters of national security. Your DSA membership card is in the mail, comrade.
(And if you want to know who blew the greatest opportunity in modern US history to destroy Chinese soft power, it’s Trump.)
It is honestly just such a pitiful misunderstanding of the world that reveals such a fundamental level of ignorance as to be depressing. People actually read and believe this utter drivel. They think this lead addled boomer’s paranoid ramblings about a NWO make sense. I’m all for debate, but this just reveals how hopeless the situation is. You can’t reason and reach an understanding with someone who doesn’t understand reality.

This week Rupert Murdoch, admitted under oath, that Fox News and all their right-wing on-air nuts knew Trump and his minions were all lying about election fraud. They knew it, yet continued to press Trump’s big lie because well . . . ratings and money. Will you hear any of this on Fox? No, their reporters are not allowed to report what Rupert, Hannity, etc., etc, said in their depositions; or all the text messages Dominion has obtained through discovery, proving Fox was complicit in the Big Lie and did it for ratings. This guy is just one more of the MAGA Cult members, who are blind to everything except their baseless conspiracy theories.

To add to the embarrassing errors, the ‘kinder, gentler America’ speech was done at the RNC Nat’l Conv in 1988 and was specifically addressing domestic divisiveness, not foreign policy.
It wasn’t brought up as something to be derided until Trump decided to make it an issue and it’s clear what Trump excretes Prioleau eats and regurgitates along with pseudointellectual babble.
Also of all the years to choose as the one to demonstrate his belief that we all thought China would never grow into a threat he picked 1989. 1989. The most important year in the development of the modern authoritarian Chinese state.
Watching him try and opine about politics and history is like watching a dog stand on its hind legs pretending to be a person.
The attorneys who read this blog have literally made a verb out of Prioleau, everyone says it prow-low and it means making shit up out of thin air. What an embarrassment to veterans, historians, republicans, south carolinians and literate people everywhere. Fools names and fools faces are often seen in public places.
