I am a female, Licensed Professional Counselor Al Lic # 1784. Private practice
42 years of experience. 10 years in forensic counseling. From a psychological standpoint, the motive of the murder is from the outside, for me so very clear. But the general public doesn’t see it as to my knowledge no psychological evidence has been presented. So I hope it’s coming. To reinforce my clarity, I researched the latest peer reviewed fact based evidence regarding these type murders .
Below paragraph is not in my words but words of research that were my exact thoughts. Thought it could help to send for the purpose of consideration
To read and understand the entire research below , family enmeshment must also be understood which in my opinion is spot on in this case. Example : Family enmeshment: Where do we start and the individual family member end? No identity without family or appearance of family unity. Evolutionary imprint of “family as a unit of power and control”. Eg “I am a Murdaugh “. Murdaugh was known from all accounts from your reporting as “one”
Familicide is not always preceded by violence, however. A desire for and sense of entitlement to control – especially over finances and the family “unit” – is a more common denominator. Familicide often occurs in the face of a spiralling loss of control over these areas, especially by a male “head of the household”.
A loss of control over “masculine” domains is at the heart of familicides, even where there is no clear history of domestic abuse. Some perpetrators whose actions may appear “out of the blue” have been described in research studies as having their lives unravelling in ways that are acutely tied to their gender identity.
My words now. opinion from my experienced lens: Alex intended to kill himself also that night but he was a coward. So later he tried to have someone else do what he couldn’t do. Buster would then be “one” that was left to carry on the power and control. In my opinion, saving Buster was about the only thing planned well. Alex was frenzied when he committed the murders therefore frenzied murder scene It would not have been frenzied perhaps had he been able to follow through with suicide. I suspect he had a plan to divert evidence of a suicide
If he could have followed through , the family name would have most likely been cleared with his outside world, there would be pity for them not disdain, no one would dare say it had all been a fraud. In the south we usually honor the dead.
I think death looked easier than the demise of the family unit. His misdeeds perhaps only to be read in history books, like his forefathers. Buster would remain a “Murdaugh ” to carry on the legacy. He didn’t kill for money. In his twisted mind which I think was perhaps bred, it was for the name, the unit, at all cost to protect them from knowing that their entire family life had been a fraud. His forefathers had intelligence and he perhaps had a more difficult time measuring up. I suspect he manipulated by all accounts to his rise to meet the Murdaugh standard. No one in my opinion can say he wasn’t good at manipulating people. Shame and disgrace.
But he didn’t bank on being a coward the night of the murders. He could kill them but figured out quickly, he was sick , selfish and could not take his own life. So he was left to spin a tale that had worked in the past. He is hoping those skills can still work for his benefit.
It all makes sense to me that by him not completing the plan, the crime scene can’t have any rationale because Familicide is irrational. But cousin Eddie didn’t follow through either. It could be a motive that could be understood albeit complicated.
I believe it’s what happened. Loving his family was loving himself and vice versa So in his twisted way of being taught to love, he killed “ them” (enmeshment) meaning the unit as their unit as they once knew it was over.
Most of my suicidal clients truly believe that everyone would be better off with them dead. The brain lies to us. An addicted brain lies more. Alex most likely was is very depressed and he was making a decision for his family as a unit. He believed he was entitled to determine their fate as well as his own bc it was one in the same As by my theory and backed up by research, he was the King of his castle. The unit was controlled by him. He could as head of household decide their best interest

About time a tyrannical family, Murdaugh, be taken down after all the lives they have negatively affected.
Shocked that there are any attorneys willing to defend such filth.
Interesting take on this ….
