Police officer busted passing fake bills, warrant alleges …

A police officer in Kingstree, South Carolina was arrested this week by agents of the State Law Enforcement Division (SLED).

Sallica Rose Williams, 46, faces one count of misconduct in office after she allegedly stole counterfeit currency from evidence storage at the Kingstree police department and then tried to pass the fake bills at nearby retail establishments.

According to a probable cause affidavit accompanying the warrant for her arrest, Williams passed two counterfeit $100 bills at separate Dollar General stores in Williamsburg County, S.C.

“These facts are supported by video evidence as well as a post-Miranda confession by the defendant,” the affidavit noted.

Williams was wearing her police uniform when she attempted to pass the bills, per the affidavit.

SLED’s involvement in the case was requested by the Kingstree police department and the Williamsburg County sheriff’s office.

As with anyone accused of committing a crime, Williams is considered innocent until proven guilty by our criminal justice system or until such time as she may wish to enter a plea in connection with the charge filed against her.
