It looks like former city of Columbia, South Carolina police chief Randy Scott wasn’t the only ex-law enforcement official pinched in Florence County, S.C. over the weekend …
In an unrelated case, former veteran Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agent Joe Younginer was arrested by city of Florence police officers on Sunday.
Younginer, 78, was charged with third degree assault and battery, according to county detention center records. He was booked at 11:41 p.m. EDT.
According to a news release from the Florence police department, Younginer is accused of assaulting the manager of a Wendy’s fast food restaurant located at 2117 West Evans Street.
“Upon their arrival, officers were advised that a subject knocked on the locked doors of the restaurant at approximately 9:30 p.m. (EDT) and demanded to be let inside,” the release (.pdf) stated. “The victim, who was the Wendy’s manager, stepped outside to explain the store was closed and the subject became angry, allegedly striking the victim on the top of the head with his open palm.”
[su_dominion_video_scb]Younginer spent 31 years as an FBI agent and another seven years working for the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ). In his retirement, he has been an outspoken critic of former FBI director James Comey.
“Director Comey does not represent the hard-working FBI agents who work diligently to solve criminal violations,” he wrote in a 2016 letter to the editor of The Florence Morning News.
Younginer has been outspoken on social media, too, targeting most of his derision on former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton – whom he refers to as “Killary.”
As with anyone accused of committing any crime, Younginer is considered innocent until proven guilty by our criminal justice system – or until such time as he may wish to enter a plea in connection with the charge that has been filed against him.
UPDATE: Wow … there is a lot more to this story.
