CSOL Bar Exam: Anybody Want To Guess How This Story Ends?

Find those “bomb” emojis, people …

The results from the February 2019 South Carolina bar exam have been published online by the state’s supreme court and the much-maligned Charleston School of Law (CSOL) …

Yeah …anybody care to finish this lede?

If we have written it once, we have written it a hundred times over the last few years …

… the much-maligned school once again took it on the chin.

After posting an anemic 32.81 percent passage rate last February – and an embarrassing 43.48 passage rate on the July 2018 test – CSOL students bombed the bar again, posting an abysmal 34 percent passage rate this February.

Take a look …

By comparison students at the University of South Carolina school of law – which put up an embarrassing 41.86 percent passage rate on the February 2018 test – bounced back nicely with a 71.43 passage rate this year. USC posted a similarly improved 76.28 percent passage rate on the July exam.

Meanwhile, students from other law schools posted a 74.01 percent passage rate in February.

This news outlet has follow state bar exam results very closely since its inception as a part-time political blog nearly a dozen years ago.  In fact, it was an exclusive report about a bar exam controversy way back in 2007 that served as one of our first big breaks.

Earlier this decade CSOL had begun to show some promise on this exam. In 2016, 54 out of 106 CSOL students (50.9 percent) passed the summer test. Five years ago, nearly 70 percent of CSOL graduates passed it.

Those days appear to be gone, however …
