Sources: Upheaval At Greenville SC Governor’s School

Prestigious taxpayer-funded campus buzzing …

Sources close to the Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities (SCGSAH) in Greenville, South Carolina tell us there has been a major administrative upheaval on the campus of the taxpayer-subsidized school.

Exactly what happened is unclear, but we have been told that multiple administrative positions at the school have been terminated … and that several of the hammers fell quite suddenly.

No word yet on what prompted this alleged administrative upheaval, but we are told there were class delays and cancellations related to the staffing moves on Monday.

And not surprisingly, students and parents are buzzing as a result …

Located in downtown Greenville, S.C. overlooking Falls Park on the Reedy River, SCGSAH was founded in 1980 as a summer program but opened its doors as a full-time campus in 1999 after receiving a $12 million grant from taxpayers.

The school accepts students from all over the state who have perfect (or near-perfect) grade point averages and who successfully complete auditions for one of its six art disciplines – dance, drama, creative writing, music, voice and visual arts.

According to the latest version of the state budget for the coming fiscal year (2019-2020), the school is slated to receive $1.5 million – the same amount it got in the previous budget.

UPDATE: At least one ranking administrator at the school is “no longer employed.”
