U.S. president Donald Trump celebrated a legal victory this week … and vowed revenge against woman he defeated in court.
On Monday, U.S. district court judge James Otero tossed a defamation lawsuit filed against Trump by adult entertainer Stormy Daniels – one of many women with whom Trump is alleged to have had extramarital relations.
Daniels sued Trump after he claimed her characterization of a man threatening her about coming forward with the story of their alleged affair was a “total con job.”
“We will appeal the dismissal of the defamation cause of action and are confident in a reversal,” Daniels’ attorney (and aspiring Democratic presidential contender) Michael Avenatti said by way of response to the ruling.
Daniels has other legal actions proceeding against Trump, incidentally.
Trump wasted little time in touting his victory on Twitter. He also mocked Daniels, whom he referred to as “Horseface.”
“Federal Judge throws out Stormy Danials lawsuit versus Trump. Trump is entitled to full legal fees.” @FoxNews Great, now I can go after Horseface and her 3rd rate lawyer in the Great State of Texas. She will confirm the letter she signed! She knows nothing about me, a total con!

Avenatti was livid at Trump’s tweet …
“You are a disgusting misogynist and an embarrassment to the United States,” he said. “Bring everything you have, because we are going to demonstrate to the world what a complete shyster and liar you are. How many other women did you cheat on your wife with while you had a baby at home?”
Meanwhile Daniels (below) responded to Trump’s tweet by implying he had a small penis and “perhaps” a sexual fetish for animals.

“In addition to his … umm … shortcomings, he has demonstrated his incompetence, hatred of women and lack of self control on Twitter AGAIN!” she tweeted. “And perhaps a penchant for bestiality. Game on, Tiny.”
Wow … is this really what has become of American political discourse?
Yes …
To be clear: We do not care whether Trump cheated on his wife. Or whether he paid off some of his mistresses to keep quiet. If he did, those are personal matters/ private business dealings. Certainly such actions would be revealing as to his character – or lack thereof – but absent the misuse of tax dollars or abuse of his power as president, we see very little to get upset over. Generally speaking, affairs and coverups are none of our business and they have no bearing whatsoever on people’s ability to discharge the duties of the offices they hold.
Our concern is that Trump simply cannot resist this sort of frivolity … that he is hopelessly addicted to this sort of tawdry back and forth as part of his obtuse definition of #Winning. Some say this character defect is part of his genius, and there are certainly instances in which his mocking – while far from unpresidential – is justified.
Take Pocahontas, for example.
But there are times when it just seems … pointless.
This news outlet endorsed Trump (twice) during his 2016 campaign for the presidency. Today, however, we are among the rare agnostic voices when it comes to his policies – which differ dramatically from the promises he made on the campaign trail.
It is not for us to decide, but it seems as though Trump would be better served by spending more time following through on his agenda and less time one-upping his former romantic conquests on social media.
