South Carolina state representative Katie Arrington – the GOP nominee for the Palmetto State’s first congressional district – has launched a new television ad in her fall campaign against Democrat Joe Cunningham.
The ad – entitled “Prepared” – introduces Arrington to voters as a woman of faith who has survived numerous obstacles in her life. Among these obstacles? A near-fatal car crash that occurred back in June – just days after she upset incumbent congressman Mark Sanford in the GOP primary for this coastal South Carolina seat.
“Life changes in an instant,” Arrington says in the 30-second spot, which began airing on television stations across the first district on Friday.
Arrington’s ad thanks voters for “all for their prayers and support” in the aftermath of her accident – while at the same time “highlighting the fact that all families have their own unique obstacles daily.”
“Families face challenges everyday,” she says in the ad. “With faith, we overcome. Challenges make us stronger; they prepare us.”
According to Arrington’s campaign, her new ad is running “district wide with a significant buy on broadcast, cable and digital.”
[su_dominion_video]Arrington, 47, was elected to the S.C. House of Representatives in 2016. During her brief tenure as a state lawmaker, she emerged as an aggressive voice for reform in state government – one willing to walk the walk in support of the ideas she championed. She also ran an incredible race against Sanford, dealing the veteran Palmetto politico his first-ever electoral defeat.
Her voice – which has only gotten stronger in the aftermath of her near-death experience earlier this year – is one we fully expect her to take with her to Washington, D.C.
