A husband and wife duo from Cherokee County, South Carolina were arrested this week and charged with embezzling money from a volunteer fire department.

Joseph Kirk Reynolds, 51, and his wife Gina M. Reynolds, 57 – both of Gaffney, S.C. – were arrested by agents of the S.C. State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) in connection with an undisclosed amount of money that went missing from the Asbury-Rehoboth volunteer fire department.

Joseph Reynolds was charged with embezzlement and breach of trust with fraudulent intent with a value of more than $10,000 in both cases, while his wife was charged with embezzlement and breach of trust with fraudulent intent with a value of less than $10,000.

The alleged embezzlement and breach of trust involving Joseph Reynolds is said to have taken place between July 1, 2007 and August 11, 2017, with a law enforcement affidavit accompanying the warrant for his arrest alleging that he converted the funds “for personal purchases.”

In Gina Reynolds’ case, the alleged embezzlement and breach of trust is said to have taken place between March 10, 2012 and August 11, 2017.  She is also accused of converting the fire department’s funds “for personal purchases.”
