Catherine Templeton Launches Super Bowl Web Ad

Spot entitled “Stand Up” hits interwebs this week ahead of the big game …

South Carolina GOP gubernatorial candidate Catherine Templeton is launching an new web advertisement in anticipation of Super Bowl LII on Sunday.

Templeton’s spot – entitled “Stand Up” – takes issue with the ongoing protests of the national anthem embraced by numerous National Football League (NFL) athletes.  The protests – in which players refuse to stand for the playing of the anthem – have sent NFL ratings tanking.

“You just stand up,” says Templeton calling it “spoiled, entitled, ridiculous… to kneel.”

Templeton’s ad hit the interwebs just hours after her top rival for the 2018 GOP gubernatorial nod – incumbent “Republican” governor Henry McMaster – issued a proclamation declaring Super Bowl Sunday “Stand For the Flag Sunday” in South Carolina.

McMaster asked “South Carolinians (to) show the world our state’s resolute commitment to supporting our troops by standing for the national anthem wherever you watch the Super Bowl with your loved ones this Sunday.”

Templeton’s campaign has become a serious threat to McMaster over the last few months, nearly matching the veteran politician in fundraising even after he held an event last fall starring U.S. president Donald Trump.

How much will she spend on this spot?

“We will be putting significant resources behind digital ads as we lead up to the Super Bowl,” Templeton campaign manager R.J. May III said in a statement accompanying the release of the ad.
