South Carolina governor Henry McMaster’s top campaign strategist wasn’t the only highly placed operative in his political orbit who went on a bit of a Twitter rampage earlier this month …

McMaster’s gubernatorial chief of staff Trey Walker – a longtime lieutenant of the embattled confederacy of veteran GOP strategist Richard Quinn – also got a bit fired up on social media recently.

Right around the time McMaster chief strategist Tim Pearson was unloading on Catherine Templeton (the governor’s top rival for the 2018 “Republican” gubernatorial nomination) Walker was dropping his own bombs on Twitter.

Walker’s tweets have since been deleted, but we’ve got one of the screen grabs …

“South Carolina is a proving ground for most wannabe DC GOP millennial political operatives – they try to play in our state and are suddenly made aware of their D III talent,” Walker tweeted, referring to the NCAA classification for smaller schools that play at a lower level of competition.

In a follow-up tweet, Walker referred to “silly boisterous carpetbagging children” whom he claimed “will be dispatched like their predecessors and theirs a decade before.”

Oh, “Trey Boy …”

It’s not clear which operatives Walker was referring to, but his “carpetbagging” reference is curious considering McMaster’s top strategist hails from Connecticut and his lieutenant gubernatorial selection, Pamela Evette, is an Ohio native.

Why is McMaster’s top taxpayer-funded staffer sending out campaign-related tweets?  Isn’t he supposed to refrain from engaging in such activity given his official position?

Yes … but that’s just how McMaster’s “confederacy” rolls.
