A company that manufactures heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) units is investing more money and adding new jobs at its existing facility in Orangeburg County, South Carolina.

Allied Air Enterprises, a subsidiary of Lennox International, will invest approximately $10 million at its Orangeburg, S.C. manufacturing facility over the next five years according to a news release from the Central SC Alliance, a regional “economic development” group.

This new investment will create an estimated 100 new jobs before the end of 2018, the group stated.

Allied – which is headquartered in West Columbia, S.C. – produces complete HVAC units and replacement parts for both residential and commercial use.

It’s not immediately clear whether taxpayer-subsidized incentives are associated with Allied’s announcement.  We’ve reached out to Central SC Alliance officials in the hopes of getting an answer on that question, and we’ll be sure to update our report in the event we receive this information.

We’re also interested in learning how much employees who take these new jobs can expect to earn over the course of a year …

South Carolina’s employment situation – which has historically lagged behind the rest of the nation on multiple key indicators – has been deteriorating further over the course of the year.  For our latest report on that data, click here.

In addition to its disproportionately small workforce, the Palmetto State has also struggled when it comes to income levels.  For our latest report on that data, click here.
