The South Carolina State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) is investigating an officer-involved shooting involving a park ranger at the Hickory Knob State Park Resort – a popular golfing destination located on the shores of the Strom Thurmond reservoir in McCormick County, S.C.
According to our sources, both the officer involved in the shooting and the individual wounded in the shooting are white.
Stay tuned for further details …
Thursday’s incident is the latest in a recent rash of officer-involved shootings. In fact, it’s the 45th such incident in the Palmetto State this year – just three shy of the all-time record set in 2015.
As a matter of protocol, SLED investigates all officer involved shootings in the Palmetto State and forwards its findings to the solicitor with jurisdiction over the county where the shooting took place. In this case, that would be eleventh circuit solicitor Rick Hubbard.
