The state of South Carolina’s signature sports rivalry will be televised nationally on ESPN later this month.
The “Palmetto Bowl” – the annual gridiron meeting between the University of South Carolina and Clemson University football teams – will kickoff at 7:30 p.m. EST from Williams-Brice Stadium in downtown Columbia, S.C. on November 25.
Clemson (9-1, 7-1 ACC) and South Carolina (7-3, 5-3 SEC) have played 114 times (107 times consecutively), with the Tigers enjoying a 68-42-4 all-time series advantage. Clemson has won the last three games after South Carolina won five straight from 2009-2013.
Last year’s game was a drubbing – with No. 4 Clemson clobbering Carolina 56-7 in Death Valley.
Earlier this year, South Carolina sophomore quarterback Jake Bentley generated controversy when he told a reporter “everyone knew that they weren’t that much better than us or better than us at all.”
Oy …
Expect that comment to be on the Tigers’ lockers prior to kickoff on November 25.
Both Carolina and Clemson have completed their conference schedules and will face in-state rivals Wofford and The Citadel next week, respectively.
