Gerald Malloy’s 1980s Cheerleading Video Is Hyping Us Up

Flashback Friday …

Having a lazy Friday?  We’ve got just the ticket for your doldrums …

Here’s a flashback to 1984, when the University of South Carolina cheerleading squad traveled to Hawaii to participate in a collegiate competition televised nationally by ESPN (before it was a force for social justice).

The Gamecocks’ routine begins at the outset of the clip, and we’re not going to lie – the dancing and commentary is priceless.  Hilarious, even (especially when they start messing up).

But the real comedic gold is retrievable at the 3:50 mark of the clip, when the network interviews Gamecock cheerleader (and future State Senator) Gerald Malloy, who is currently mulling a campaign for governor of the Palmetto State.

Enjoy …

Yeah …

No word on whether Herbie Hancock‘s “Rockit” will be the theme music for Malloy’s gubernatorial bid … but we’ll be sure to keep our readers posted.

In the meantime, we’re sorry/ you’re welcome …
