Agents of the South Carolina State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) are investigating the death of an inmate in Charleston County, S.C.
The inmate – 57-year-old Ronald Bernard Norman of North Charleston, S.C. – was found unresponsive in his cell at the Sheriff Al Cannon detention center on Monday morning. Medical staff attempted to revive him, but their efforts were unsuccessful.

Norman was booked at the facility on October 2 on a trespassing charge. He is the third inmate to die at the facility in the last four months, although one of those deaths has been ruled a suicide.
SLED investigates all prison deaths in the Palmetto State as a matter of protocol.
