A Spartanburg County, South Carolina man has been arrested and charged with criminal sexual conduct with a minor.

Thomas Reid Kirk, Sr. of Cowpens, S.C. was arrested and charged with the “sexual battery of a male child” who was under the age of eleven at the time the alleged offense took place.

According to an affidavit accompanying the warrant for his arrest, Kirk assaulted his victim in Chesnee, S.C. sometime between November 2009 and November 2010.

“The victim disclosed this incident along with the physical address where the incident occurred during a forensic interview at (the) Spartanburg Child Advocacy Center,” the affidavit stated.

It’s not immediately clear when this interview took place, but police clearly found enough evidence in their ensuing investigation to support a charge against Kirk.

Kirk was arrested by agents of the S.C. State Law Enforcement Division (SLED).

As you can see, there’s some pretty sick stuff contained in the affidavit accompanying the warrant.

Like any defendant accused of any crime, Kirk is considered innocent until proven guilty by a jury of his peers.  Assuming there is sufficient evidence to convict him, though, this is the sort of crime we believe should keep an offender locked up for a long, long time.

Or better yet, we could just save taxpayers decades of expenses with the cost of a bullet …

Seriously.  We’re all for sexual liberation … until it infringes upon the liberty of a minor child. In those cases, we can’t think of a punishment too severe.
