An Anderson County sheriff’s deputy has been arrested and charged with criminal domestic violence (CDV) of a high and aggravated nature – the most serious CDV charge on the books.
Kevin McAlister, 36, of Liberty, S.C. is accused of “intentionally impeding the normal breathing or circulation of blood … by applying a chokehold to (his) victim.”
McAlister was armed with his service weapon at the time of the incident, which was captured on video.

CDV of a high and aggravated nature is a felony in South Carolina punishable by up to twenty years in prison.
