A South Carolina Senator is calling on Clemson University to fire the professor who referred to all GOP politicians “racist scum” – and who further urged radical liberals to engage in violence against all “Republicans.”
“I think they need to fire him,” S.C. Senator Katrina Shealy told us this week. “And the state of South Carolina needs to cut off funding for Clemson until they get rid of him.”
Wow … somebody’s not playing around.
Bart Knijnenburg – an assistant professor of human-centered computing at Clemson – wrote on his Facebook wall last week that “all (T)rump supporters, nay, all Republicans, are racist scum.”
Not only that, Knijnenburg endorsed the far left’s call for violence in the name of eradicating this “Republican” racism.
“I admire anyone who stands up against white supremacy. Violent or non-violent,” he wrote in another Facebook post. “This needs to stop, by any means necessary.”
News of Knijnenburg’s hate speech was first reported by Mitchell Gunter of the website Campus Reform.
Shealy reached out to us this week and cited our coverage of the dust-up – arguing that we needed to step up our efforts on the Knijnenburg controversy.
“He needs to be let go – and then he needs to go back to wherever it is he came from,” Shealy told us. “We talk about our budgets being short and yet we’re supporting crazy people who say things like this. It doesn’t make any sense.”
Shealy told us to make sure everyone in the S.C. General Assembly (and at Clemson) knew her comments were on the record, too.
“This needs to stop,” she told us. “I’m not going to stay silent on this.”
Not counting his benefits, Knijnenburg is paid $98,088 a year by South Carolina taxpayers.
In our original coverage of his comments, we recommended “he be deprived of that stream of revenue immediately.”
Accordingly, we concur with Shealy’s ultimatum …
Clemson has been a breeding ground for leftist insanity in recent years. Last year the school booted a man from its campus for praying. Prior to that, there was a major dust-up between a liberal professor and the school’s football coach, Dabo Swinney, over the latter making positive references to slain civil rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr.
That’s right … praising MLK is apparently racist if the kind words originated from a white person.
Oh, and who can forget the infamous “Banana Bandit” case, in which the school was caught flat out lying about an allegedly “racist” incident on campus.
Of course the bigger issue isn’t Clemson’s descent into politically correct madness, it’s the ongoing taxpayer subsidization of higher education in the first place (especially via student loan guarantees). As much as liberals wish it were, higher education is simply not a core function of government … especially in light of the leftist indoctrination taking place at state-supported universities all across the state and nation.
For those of you keeping score at home, Clemson was appropriated $990.8 million in the state budget that took effect on July 1. That’s a 4.4 percent increase from the previous year.
For years, this website has called for the privatization of Clemson and the rest of the Palmetto State’s system of “higher” education.
