We wrote yesterday about how one South Carolina politician – Democratic congressional candidate Joe Cunningham – took advantage of the big solar eclipse to film a television commercial bashing U.S. president Donald Trump.
State representative Micah Caskey had other ideas …
The first-term state lawmaker (and leader of the House “Freshman Caucus”) popped the question to his girlfriend, Erin Harris, on a boat in the middle of Lake Murray as the eclipse’s “path of totality” moved over the area shortly after 2:30 p.m. EDT.
“I don’t know what’s more impressive,” one of Caskey’s friends told us. “A total eclipse or her saying yes.”
Ha! We concur …
Caskey, 36, is a former deputy solicitor and ex-Marine who won the right to represent S.C. House District 89 (map) last fall. He’s cast some votes we don’t like since entering the legislature, but we’ve always respected his service to country, his intellect and his political acumen.
Anyway, congrats to Caskey and best wishes to Hall on the news of their engagement … we wish them both a long, happy and prosperous future together.
