IDEOLOGICAL TIES ARE TOO BINDING …

Dear Editor,

FITSNews is afflicted with the same infirmities that the liberal press has.  Ideology and litmus tests trump common sense.  The enemy of my enemy is my friend.  I agree we have no military business in the Middle East, but since we are there we need to try and protect our interests.

We jumped in bed with Joseph Stalin and Mao Zedong, during World War II, the two biggest mass murderers in history.  ISIS is our enemy, and anybody trying to kill those bastards is our friend.  Just common sense.  The most common sense thing would be to get our soldiers out of the Middle East but, alas, that is not going to happen.

I like your site but you are so tied to ideology that you shoot yourself in the foot.

SIC SEZ …

Philip: First of all, it sounds as if you and I are in general agreement as to the best course of action moving forward on the foreign policy front – which as you note is indeed the common sense way forward.  As to your larger point, I will concede that oftentimes I permit ideological rigidity to dominate my editorial judgment.  This is one reason my goal for this website moving forward is to adopt a more “marketplace” approach – providing a forum for different perspectives beyond my “broken record” libertarianism.  I hope you will be a participant in that marketplace, and I appreciate the feedback you’ve offered here.
