Dear Editor,

Protection of sources for news reporting is essential to our free and independent press. Will Folks is a highly skilled reporter and journalist. It is critical that he must be protected by the American legal principle known as reporters’ privilege.

I don’t like Will Folks.  I try to avoid reading whatever he is publishing on FITSNews.  I don’t like his style.  He is annoying and sometimes offensive.  But often I do read his work.

Will Folks is frequently first to report factual information and images that document current events in South Carolina politics.  He also shares many tips that tell tidbits of a much bigger story.  Sometimes, specific factual details published on FITSNews never appear elsewhere.

Because I have participated in many political activities that were covered by FITSNews during the past several years, I have very good reason to believe that Will Folks gets the facts right.  I have never observed him fabricating material.  I have never known him to publish a lie.

In accuracy, FITSNews is at least as reliable as typical mainstream media outlets today.  In its openly flaunted editorial bias and obnoxious attitudes, which are typically used to entertain and outrage readers, FITSNews is again on a par with mainstream media today.

Reporters’ privilege absolutely covers Will Folks. His work at FITSNews must be protected.
