FEDS PROBE LOAN …
Socialist U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders – who probably would have won the 2016 Democratic presidential nomination were the process not rigged against him – is at the heart of an ongoing federal bank fraud investigation.
The scandal – first exposed back in 2015 by the website VTDigger.com – involves around a shady land deal allegedly “orchestrated” by Sanders’ wife, Jane O’Meara Sanders, during her tenure as president of Burlington College.
According to allegations leveled last January by Brady Toensing – one of U.S. president Donald Trump’s top supporters in Vermont – Sanders’ wife lied about the now-defunct college’s financial support on an application for a $10 million bank loan for a 33-acre piece of property it purchased from the Roman Catholic church.
If true, that’s bank fraud …
Additionally, Sanders’ U.S. Senate office is accused of inappropriately lobbying the People’s United Bank to approve the dubious loan.

Toensing filed a request in January 2016 for federal authorities to investigate “what appears to be federal loan fraud.” A separate request urged an inquiry into any pressure applied in support of the alleged fraud.
These investigations are ongoing … and appears to be quite far-ranging, judging by the latest VTDigger reporting.
For his part, Bernie Sanders is refusing to discuss the case.
“That’s not what I’m talking about today,” Sanders told a reporter with the Associated Press who attempted to question him about the ongoing investigation.
Sanders also ripped into Kara Rowland of Fox News for asking him about the issue.
“I’m glad that you’re interested in the fact that the Republican leadership is proposing legislation which would throw millions of people off of health insurance and give hundreds of billions of dollars in tax breaks to the top 1 percent,” he said.
Testy …
In stark contrast to the seemingly limitless corruption associated with establishment Democrat Hillary Clinton, Sanders has always maintained a squeaky clean public image. And whereas Clinton was clearly beholden to entrenched special interests, Sanders has always been perceived as a “man of the people.”
Looks like his image could be about to take a major hit, though …
