GREENVILLE COP ARRESTED …

An off-duty Greenville, South Carolina sheriff’s deputy has been charged with first degree criminal domestic violence – the second Upstate law enforcement officer to be accused of this felony charge in as many days.

Herman William McDonald, 32, was arrested in Pickens County, S.C. after allegedly choking his ex-wife following a fight involving his girlfriend and sister.

According to police, McDonald allegedly forced his ex-wife to the ground and choked her until her vision became impaired.  He was eventually restrained, but Pickens County deputies reported swelling around the woman’s neck as a result of her injuries.

McDonald’s 10-year-old child was at home at the time of the incident – which is alleged to have taken place on Saturday in Easley, S.C.

That’s the same day Cecil Bryan Wilkins, 48, of Boiling Springs, S.C. was arrested in connection with another criminal domestic violence allegation.

Wilkins, a senior investigator with the Spartanburg County, S.C sheriff’s department, was arrested by agents of the S.C. State Law Enforcement Division (SLED).

First offense criminal domestic violence is a felony punishable by up to ten years in prison.  It is the second most serious CDV charge on the books in South Carolina, next to criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature.

Like any defendant accused of any crime in this country, both men are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
