TROUBLE IN TIGERTOWN …
Former Clemson University football player and radio host Will Merritt was arrested in Anderson County, South Carolina last week.
The 38-year-old Easley, S.C. native was booked on the afternoon of May 26 and charged with grand larceny involving an alleged theft valued at more than $10,000.
We’ve reached out to the Anderson County sheriff’s department in the hopes of receiving additional information related to Merritt’s arrest. As soon as we receive that information, we will updated our coverage accordingly.
In the meantime, here is Merritt’s mug shot …

After redshirting in 1997, Merritt played parts of four seasons at Clemson under head coaches Tommy West and Tommy Bowden – starting at guard in 2000 and 2001.
During his final season in Tigertown, he was a second-team all-Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) performer.
After his playing career ended, Merritt was hired as Clemson’s color analyst – serving in that capacity alongside play-by-play announcer Pete Yanity for twelve seasons. He stepped down in 2014 shortly after Yanity was replaced by Don Munson.
Merritt was replaced as color analyst by former Clemson quarterback Rodney Williams.
“I have loved my time with Clemson more than most,” Merritt said upon stepping down. “My zeal for all things Clemson Football has hopefully shown through in my enthusiasm serving as the analyst for the Clemson Tiger Sports Network. Throughout these years, God blessed me so incredibly much with relationships that I will always cherish.”
