HOLD THOSE TIGERS …
Clemson University’s baseball team has been selected as one of sixteen regional hosts for the 2017 NCAA baseball tournament.
The Tigers (39-19) were one of five Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) schools chosen to host a regional, joining Florida State, Louisville, North Carolina and Wake Forest.
The other host schools chosen by the NCAA were Arkansas, Florida, Houston, Kentucky, Long Beach State, Louisiana State, Oregon State, Southern Mississippi, Stanford, TCU and Texas Tech.
This is Clemson’s second consecutive season hosting a regional, and the school’s ninth consecutive NCAA tournament appearance. All told, the Tigers have made the tournament 42 times – and have missed the postseason cut just once in the last thirty years (following the 2008 season).
Clemson is in its second season under head coach Monte Lee – a former University of South Carolina assistant. This is Lee’s fourth consecutive trip to the postseason, having led the College of Charleston to a pair of NCAA appearances in 2014 and 2015 prior to taking the reins of the Clemson program.
Tournament play will begin either Thursday or Friday at Doug Kingsmore Stadium in Clemson, S.C. Stay tuned for matchups and game times …
