LAWMAKER BLASTS PROSECUTOR AS PARTISAN OFFICE-SEEKER …

South Carolina state representative Rick Quinn – the crown prince of the Palmetto State’s most influential political empire – issued a statement late Tuesday in response to his indictment earlier in the afternoon on a pair of corruption charges.

According to the veteran lawmaker, he and his family are victims of a partisan political witch hunt initiated by a prosecutor who is seeking higher office.

Quinn’s statement singles out S.C. first circuit solicitor David Pascoe as gunning for the office of attorney general – a position currently held by Quinn’s friend and longtime political ally, Alan Wilson.

Wilson is also a client of the consulting firm run by Quinn’s father, neo-Confederate “Republican” advisor Richard Quinn.

“My family and I have been targeted by Mr. Pascoe because of a political feud between the Republican attorney general and a partisan Democrat who wants to be the attorney general,” Quinn said.  “Since 2010, Mr. Pascoe has twice started campaigns to run against the attorney general.  It is my belief that this public fight between them is the real motivation since I have worked for the attorney general’s past political campaigns.”

Quinn reiterated prior statements claiming that he has “done nothing wrong” and indicated he would be “asking for a speedy trial so that this can be resolved as quickly as possible.”

Quinn’s full statement is as follows …
